I think that was maybe Moyes thinking behind Gibson, turns out he's ace full stop but his distance shooting that was his strong point is actually a bit naff. Still Barkley's on his way now and he's got a decent hit on him.
Don't think saying we just give it to Baines does our team any justice (if that's what you meant) this season though.
Mirallas and Coleman have been very effective, as has Anichebe and Fellaini through the middle. Plenty of interplay and quick passing in build ups all season, dimissing all this as just waiting for Baines is pretty harsh.

I agree we've had more variety this season, particularly with Coleman playing at right back, but the essence of our play still revolves around Baines. If we find it difficult to break a team down, we usually revert to working him into a crossing position. Obviously it's not necessarily a bad thing because he's well good at crossing, and you're right some of our play to get him into those positions has been excellent, I just think we need more ways of attacking that say: this is what we're going to do and this is how it'll result in a goal.

Not reading all that
LOL ... it was a good post by Tree13 give him a shot.

TL;DR WE R SKINT.
It was all long but worth reading ... although you are right that's what it comes down to in the end. I don't like the idea of losing Felli (it's rare to get better by selling your best players) but if we could get good value (and reinvest it all + whatever TV money we are allowed to use) we could really get a better balance in the team.

Felli sold + Mirallas in the hole + central playmaker + a more experienced Coleman to balance out our width + a new right sided player with pace + keeping Baines of course ... that could really give teams a lot more to think about. Hard to get all of that to come together though ... and I didn't even mention strikers which we need desperately too.

If we're short on cash (which lets face it ... we will be somehow despite all this new money) do we risk neglecting strikers to fill out this midfield? What use is a striker without the good service? Does Jela get his form back with better supply a more balanced attack could provide? Does Vic step up another level with that kind of supply?

... oh and a CB of course. Man this summer is going to be one huge let-down isn't it?

I always catch up on the Bongs Analysis, I think he is quite brilliant at breaking it down.

I would deffo recommend Moyes have a Sneaky and check out what he has to say.

It would be ace if there was a way we could hear DMs views of this type of analysis. Unfortunately I guess the manager can only discuss this stuff openly with his inner circle. I think we have shown a bit extra this year with our increased attacking threat down the right although it is basically the same pattern as LB and SP on left and can be countered the same way by defenders sitting deep. KMs pace through centre and individual flair is the real new factor for me. If only he could link up cleverly with jela? Nice little dunked balls for him to run onto? Still can be countered by defence sitting deep but would at least be a third way to complement the wing based attacks.
