Is this thread making anyone else feel really old too? FFS I remember or was actually at half the games mentioned on here.

Ha Ha I was thinking the same thing myself mate. Remember most of the games mentioned.
I was born 22/08/1954 a day after we had won 5-2 away at Sheffield Utd. On the 25th we beat Arsenal at home 1-0 in front of 69,000 and three days later we beat Preston NE at home also 1-0 with a gate of 76,839

We crushed Shrewsbury in the League cup 29th of october 1985, a competition wer would get eliminitated from after replays against chelsea a few weeks later. A few months later, we lost to the ****e in the fa cup final.

Beat Plymouth at home 2-0 T Egglington(2) 38,000 Div 2 we finished 16th but got promoted back to Div 1 next season I have missed all but a handfull of home games since 1958/59 season ,season ticket holder since 1962/63 season

Lost 1-0 at home to Southampton on the day I was born and 2-0 away to Palace three days later.

Not the best start.

First game of the 1977/78 season and a 3-1 loss at home to Nottingham Forest on 20th Aug 1977, Jim Pearson getting the goal for us.

A 1-1 away draw at the start of the 72 season to Norwich. It was hot and the fans were wearing dirty jeans. The last american troops scrambled tail between their legs from the smoking remains of vietnam. The fans were sporting loads of hair. Schools Out for Summer was number one. Joe Royle scored and Harry the Cat was manager.

Everton went on to finish above the relegation places. The ****e won the league and the UEFA cup.
