Everton Youth Teams Thread

We're now at the point where risks can't be made sadly. Too skint to buy anyone not for the first team and they need to be slam dunks or we will get relegated.
Will be this season is more in the future when is more room for us to spend. Like we have done with dcl , even holgate who we could have sold for decent money to west brom.

Think the pathway conversation isnt true.
We have 1 first team left back and an injury prone Godfrey who isnt a left back as his back up.
He made the bench a few times last term and would of at the end of the season if he hadent been away with England.
James Vaughan has also done a really good job in the past 12 months of getting positive development loans for our younger players, if he stayed he would get a loan pretty certainlly.

What he will get at Chelsea is a couple of things.
He will be training with the top players in europe for his age group every day, along with top facilitys and top coaches, he will also get better exposure as a 'Chelsea' youth player in terms of there network and ability to get players loans across europe or higher up the ladder (these dont always work).
Chelsea's first team wont be the target for ISS it will be the next few years development then getting the move from chelsea at 19/20 to a team of his choice and a nice profit for Chelsea
Plus a much better financial deal than Everton were unable or not ready to offer.

There has been a recent change in Premier League rules which means that, by the start of the 2024/25 season, all Premier League clubs must have an Academy at Category Three level or higher. It is also necessary to have an Academy in order to gain a licence to compete in UEFA competitions.
Again...................smaller clubs think outside the box to help them compete with bigger clubs! Bigger clubs don't like this way of thinking so the PL change the rules so this doesn't happen again

I don't see why we couldn't operate the brentford way of signing 18 year olds anyway. That's essentially what we did when we grabbed Simms and he likely netted us 8 million and Nkounkou who got us 2.

Problem with shutting the academy is you then completely lose access to anyone half decent and miss out on selling a 16 year old for 4 million or a Gordon for 40. There's basically no upside to it that you couldn't already do with an academy

simms was 16

On a slightly different tack. The academy seems to be able to get and develop talent.
Gordon sold for 45M, ISS, Small and now apparently Simms all bringing money as well.

The rules relating to young players leaving their clubs as per the present situation is very unsatisfactory.... I say this being well aware that sometimes we are the buying club.
There should be an automatic 20% sell on clause applicable for maybe seven years if a player leaves before they sign their first contract.

my point is he joined us 2 years before you said he did.
thought that was obvious enough
I didn't say he joined us at age 18, I said it's essentially what we did, which it was given thats the age group he joined. I also listed Nkounkou who joined us at 20. Not really a difficult point to comprehend

If you could write your English better it wouldn't be difficult to comprehend
