Everton Youth Teams Thread

“ Pathways” for youngsters like ISS and Sherif can change from season to season , manager to manager. Apparently City are about to sign Gvardiol , 21, left sided CB who can play left back , ISS ‘s pathway if he goes to City will be difficult , unless he’s outstanding and CL quality.

I suspect going to Man City is more "I'm at the best club in the world" than pathways.

Oh indeed , there’s an argument that says they’re the best “ finishing school” with their facilities , coaches etc. But that’s balanced with at some stage , possibly in 12 months , to develop further he would require a loan into men’s football. ISS has already trained regularly with our first team, with one video showing him getting specific attention from our coaches, I think he’ll get tailored attention here if he stays.

I think some lads the age of Samuels Smith could see it as a chance to play with all the lads he plays with for England every week.
To play in European completion at youth level and to train in state of the art conditions with the best youth coaches around.

If you look at it as how the Americans treat College Football or Baseball then it is a few years of refining your game as well as possible before going into the professional game (like the draft).

Lavia, Edozie, Bazunu, Jaun Lariyos, Darko Gyabi, Jayden Braef, Felix Nmecha have all done it in recent years.

I suspect the likes of Liam Delap, James Trafford, Luke Mbete, Morgan Rogers, James McAtee will all do the same in the next couple of years.

A slightly different tack, but we should be rigidly monitoring City ( and Chelsea) for their surplus to requirements . They don’t come cheap, particularly when we have no money, but Southamton could more than double the money they spent on Lavia tnis window even allowing for a% going to City.

So 9 new Scholars have been included so far.

All seem familiar names in respect of featuring in our u18 squads last season, not all started or got game minutes though..I seem to remember Harrison Armstrong starting, maybe Pickford too , with Morgan featuring regularly . Nobody stands out as we’ve had in previous years when we had the likes of Barker , ISS .

George Pickford GK

Defenders: Aled Thomas, George Finney, Luca Davies, Joshua van Schoor.

Midfield : Harrison Armstrong, Harvey Foster,

Forwards: Joel Catesby , George Morgan.
