As for the comments deriding the possibly returning Godfrey,

Keane has made everybody look 5hite next to him for the last 5 years.

Godfrey is one of our best two centre backs, playing next to MK has never helped any of them.

You really want to see Holgate and Keane over Godfrey? Really?

We simply cannot pick that same back 4. The Kenny experiment has to come to an end now. Michael Keane and Mason Holgate cannot play together again. I actually see Seamus Coleman as the least dangerous player to put in there, as I know at least one of the woeful four will start every game. Branthwaite is seemingly fit, as is Godfrey, and Mykolenko and Patterson. That's four players, all ready and available to play in their natural positions. If we must maintain some experience (in what? being a loser?) then he'll probably keep Coleman in there, but at least make it Coleman - Branthwaite - Godfrey - Mykolenko. To not dramatically change things after that Spurs embarrassment would make Lampard as guilty as those on the field.

Coleman - Branthwaite - Godfrey - Mykolenko

Aside from that, we definitely need to persist with the 3 in midfield. Yes we were dominated by Spurs, but how much of that was the midfield. and how much of it was the disgusting defence? Plus they put in a great shift against City.

Van de Beek, Doucoure, Allan.

DCL and Richarlison were not at all in the last two games, disappointingly. DCL looks miles off at the moment, and we know that Gray has been our best player this season, so he'll surely start this one. Gordon seems to play every minute at the moment, and I think he'll start again here, so it's which of the attackers to drop. For me, the question is which one can pull a piece of magic out the hat? Richi.

Gordon, Richarlison, Gray.

Hope Fronk is ruthless and Keane and holgate don't get near the starting 11, or I fear Jimenez and podence will have a field day.

All on us in the stands on Sunday and for the rest of the season, we have to make the old girl rock.

Either Keane or holgate have been given enough chances to improve their forms.
Agree with using Godfrey and Brathwaite to our CB next matches. We should give the chances for someone improvrd games by games.

Its a relief that the sleek oily steam train that is Traore isn't still at Wolves as he would have killed our defence.

All I want is 11 players in the royal blue that are going to try, it was evident that half way through the second half against Spurs not a single Everton player was sweating, probably because nobody was moving. I watched Villa last night batter Leeds and every one of them put in a shift and gave maximum effort. I think the following definitely have to start if they are fit:

Pickford
Patterson
Godfrey
Mykolenko
Allan
DVB
Doucoure
Gordon
Gray
Richarlison
DCL (not because he puts effort in because against spurs he was baaaaadd!!)

A 3-5-2, pack the midfield with Doucoure sitting between the midfield and attack where he has been at his best.

When you think about the bench then make it up of kids, at least Dobbin tries when he has had a few minutes.

Inicidentally, when Lampard says Keane has been 'ill' for a few weeks, I think he refers to mentally ill and that is not a dig, I am a mental health practitioner myself and his body language is showing his head isn't in the game.

I like the sentiment and I totally see where you're coming from given most of our centre backs are beyond useless, but no manager would ever play 3 at the back of which two of them are natural full backs. We just need to hope for the least worst selection, which imo is Branthwaite alongside Godfrey, and Patterson and Mykolenko, but no chance that happens tomorrow or any time this season. Coleman seems to have a guaranteed spot in the xi and doesn't look like Mykolenko is trusted or is in the right headspace to play.

All of our defensive options look shocking.
Agree i would not know where to start with picking a defense.
1. Godfrey must come back in, but not sure where to play him.
2. Holgate not the worst of the bunch so i start him
3. Mykolenko i would start. Kenny has done ok, but still prefer a natural left back
4. Kenny then at RB ? Coleman has had some terrible games

What you have said is sensible but shows how desperate we are:
1. Godfrey not great in the air and Jimenez playing.
2. He's still pretty terrible.
3. Ideally yes, but what kind of mental state is he in? Might play Godfrey there.
4. Yeah probably. Obviously doesn't fancy Patterson.

Yes Spurs was a very bad result, I dont think the formation was the issue, we seen just as bad performaces in other formations. What I think Frank needs to do is bed in a formation and the "basics" of how you will play. Being hard to beat has to be part of that!

For me 4-3-3 is the correct way to go, perhaps being more of a 4-1-4-1 when defending, high press at home when the crowd and everything is going for you and perhaps being more conservative away with pressing triggers being loose touch from the opposition or the half way line etc etc, for me a half pitch press doesn`t lead to big gaps that you get pressing the full pitch with the defence dropping off as they are accustomed to.

Work on this formation but learn how to adapt to different teams and systems within that....
