Everton vs Spurs

Words can not express what I am feeling right now... anyway.

someone said something about not blaming BT, well I am going to.

He played the full 90mins and this is what the BBC had to say about him - "the recalled James Beattie ineffective"

Thats it, he doesn't get mentioned again.... whats all this about not getting chances? fact is he doesn't help the midfield to create chances like AJ does, working the defence instead of just stood in front of the two cbs getting beat in the air all night.

As soon as I saw the lineup I knew we would get a draw at best, no cahill no AJ.

And yes Moyes was wrong to take off Fernandes, if you remove a threat up front then the opposition will take advantage and push forward, it should have been osman off for Vaughan.

On the subject of Osman... another poor, lifeless showing from him, if he wasn't someone brought through our youth ranks he would get savaged by the fans for doing naff all.

oh yeh from the BBC again - "Osman conceded possession in midfield, and Lennon raced clear to find Berbatov at the far post, who swept an impressive finish high past Tim Howard."

ooooh.. how many more times do I have to read that?

Beat Watford or forget about Europe. welcome back tim and AJ!! :D

Is that ginger headed [Poor language removed] still in charge of our club? It's Smith all over again.

Sorry Blarg, I've seen some of this knee jerk reaction crap both last night and again this morning. Which of you guys guessed that we'd perform as badly as we did with the team he put out at kick off, remember 4 4 2. In that first half we were [Poor language removed], simply as that and DM knew it. In my match comments at half time I suggested that we take Vic off and bring either Nays or Vaughan on, he did exactly that and we performed twice as well in the second half. The big mistake he made was not bringing Vaughan on early enough.

Sorry Rob, BT, and I am and have always been his biggest critic, had a reasonable game last night. From what I saw on Sky last night he was providing his own crosses half the bloody time because no one else was putting them in. When the full backs put in crosses they did so from deep, no one tried to get round the back of the Spurs defence on the few occasions we strung passes together.

If anyone wants Moyes sacking then don't just come on here with knee jerk reactions, this is a forum for constructive and not destructive debate. I want people to name names, who would you replace him with and why. Some idiots are wanting an all out attacking manager, that animal doesn't exist, not one club try the suicidal 'we'll attack all the time routine', the last one to do so was Real Madrid and it didn't work there despite all their wealth.

Come on lads take it on the chin and blame DM yes, I do, but sack the 'ginger headed [Poor language removed]' is contemptible.

I've not done knee jerk before, but I've had enough of this negative football, clueless tactics and constant hoof ball. It was bad enough when Ferguson was in the team, but now he's not, it's ridiculous.

I'm sorry, last night was the last straw for me. To play 6 defenders in a home game against average opposition is unforgivable. We are going nowhere. He has taken us as far as he can and steps must be taken now to find a better class manager. One that has the guts to do something positive. Benetez did last night!

i would like moyes to gamble more when the game is in the balance. the reaction at goodison 5 minutes from the end said it all. evertonians want to go for the kill with a couple of minutes left. substituting the substitute was slapstick. i read moyes' reasons today and while i can see his point, he painted himself in to corner bringing on hibbert. a striker for a midfielder would seem the obvious choice. few would have predicted the change moyes opted for.

I have had enough with moyes' stupid changes in the 2nd half of a game. To change from a 4-4-2 and bring anichebe off was ridiculous, to bring fernandes off for hibbert has me confused more than anything.

I think he played for the draw in the 2nd half but the game was open with both teams attacking, stupid move. its time to take these games we should be winning week in week out and put the points on the board. We could defo be up there challenging against the (supposidly) big 4.

Many fans in rage with the tactial changes made, 1 includes me!!

Grrrr.

A negative substitution by Moyes.

Not happy at all with the loss, but you can see it coming, as you always do with Everton.

Beattie did well, and i couldnt care what anyone else thinks of his performance, ive had enough of the slagging off he takes.

Roll on Watford :dodgy:

that was embarrassing to see us at home to spurs try to close the game out with 5 left. we should have been all over them!!!

Just got back in the house from the match and am still fuming for the above reason (team selection and tactics) as were 99% of everyone I heard leaving the ground.

A few points from the game:

1) BT was OK, it just looked like he had never met his teammates before. BT and Anichebe don't work and for that reason I would have rather seen Vaughn and Victor. But it wasn't all his fault - there was no-one picking up his knock-ons, he worked hard and won a lot of headers.

2) What danger we had came from Osman. Yes, he didn't have a good game and he should have been the one playing the Cahill role, but he also came closer than most of his team-mates on multiple occasions.

3) Arteta and Fernandes had good skilful games. Fernandes was running all over the place, but not getting his tackles in. His attack was far better than his defence and with a more subtle forward line, his options would have been better.

4) The booing in the second half was directed at Moyes after the Hibbo substitution and was vicious, especially with the Vaughn substitution. I didn't hear many getting on the players' backs, apart from when they failed to close down in midfield later on in the match.

5) The first goal was down to Lescott (who otherwise had an excellent game) and not Osman. Lescott was stranded upfield and anyway was being left naked by the team set-up (which was why the Naysmith substitution was rational). But WTF, playing two non-fullbacks out of position, and then putting the fullbacks on the subs bench??? Taking off Fernandes and going for the draw???? At home????? To Spurs?????????? AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGH

Added: The freekick for the foul on Anichebe was ludicrous. I was level with this one and when I saw him reaching for his card, I thought that Anichebe was going to get his second yellow and be off.

Moyes was boring, lacked invention, intiatiative, drive, ambition...and quality players. You cannot blame Moyes for woeful defending for both goals by the same player, I've never been his best fan but the final straw has been well and truly torn up for that manc [Poor language removed] Neville.
His distribution is pathetic, and what makes it funny is that he thinks 50 and 60 yard balls come naturally to him; wake up Phil you [Poor language removed], they don't! His rubbish chips down the line, his lax marking, his ineffective (and often late) tackles...he is a poor player. The fact that he can make it into the England squad amazes me. He went up to attack, and couldn't be bothered coming back to mark Berbatov - 1-0. Then, with Jenas clean free next to him, he decides to stand in no man's land, and then when he gets the ball, decides he'd like to give him the time to swivel and score. What a nob.
Stubbs, Yobo, Lescott played their hearts out, especially Lescott charging up the line, taking players on; he had Lennon in his pocket. Fernandes and Carsley were brilliant in midfield but Neville, Naysmith and Osman provided no width or support and were awful. Osman in particular had a wretched game.
Beattie upfront was a joke. So he ran around a bit - when he felt like it - but he's such an idiot, backing into the defenders, constantly offside, never alive to the throughballs. What a [Poor language removed] player. Anichebe and Arteta had poor first halfs but Arteta picked up considerably, and given the chance I feel Victor would have, too. Johnson and Cahill proved what a potent attacking threat they are and their fitness is imperative. I hope we put this behind us and give Watford a good thrashing.

Arteta, Fernandes, and probably a bit later Lescott and Cahill, we leave this club if we don't get better. They are all fantastic players on their day surrounded by injury prone wasters like Pistone and VDM, or players who like to choose when they perform - Yobo, Osman, and to some extent Howard, or players with simply not enough quality.
I'm looking at you, Beattie, Naysmith, Wright. Actually to be fair Naysmith was in the alien position of left mid, but surely Pisto, Fat BT, VDM and Dicky need to go by the end of the season?
What's the bet Moyes manages to give them nice new contracts

whatever you say about Moyes, problems still go back to the board.

Our bench was Wright, Naysmith, Hibbert (unfit), De Silva and Vaughan. Until we get more resources we'll always uncover the [Poor language removed] when we start scraping the barrel.

Until BK actually gives us money we will never be able to have a decent bench.
