From the little I watched in the first half I thought Pienaar is starting to get a feel for the game now and that's a "+". Otherwise I do agree with Bruce here.. we're still giving away many chances and against a more resolute and hungry team we would have seen 3 goals go against us.

I still don't think it's a good idea to play with two defensive midfielders at the same time.. Neville, Carsley & Jagielka... it give away the midfield too much. Sure it gives us an extra player in the defence, but we loose too much of the pitch.

agreed but all there 3 chances were in a 15 min period which was are worst!!!

but the last 15 we were all over them and they didnt get out of there half!

Half time and the kettles on.

Overall a good game so far. Lescott with a great header, and doing a competent job in defence. Borough finishing sucks luckily for us, but how long can it last? Hopfully the whole second half! Howard solid, Stubbs class and keeping Mido chasing shadows, Hibbert strangley with a personality today keeping Downing to a stepover or three, Baines edgey, Jagielka green but trying, Neville nippy and combative, Pienaar mirroring McFadden well on the flank with some silky stuff from both, Yakubu nither huffing nor puffing but putting in a shift knowing Johnno's warming up his twin mufflers on the sideline, and Arteta, graceful, grafting, left, right and centre, passing, scheming, tackling, shooting, not yet burning but smoking up nicely.

Woah its the loadspeaker scouse chicky and the boys are back on.

Do us a favour and snot that snotty O'neal.... crap... my cuppa

FK to Boro in the middle of our half...

Shot into the wall, rebound into the wall as well. down towards the cornerflag.. cleared away

Interesting to see that there isn't much offensive subs on Boro's bench...

Rochenbach got the yellow after telling the referee to give a yellow to Neville. Nice move ref! (y)

Neville once again takes too long to get control of the ball and looses it to a counter... but works home and corrects his mistake.

Lee is shown a yellow after kicking down Lescott after he lost a run after a ball. That's the fourth yellow card to Boro so far this game.
