this is why i hate the offside rule. suppose you should play to the whistle, but if a defence steps up and plays offside perfectly, the striker runs towards the ball so they've then stopped. another player coming from on onside position can run onto it with the defence in the motion of stepping up.

how is the striker not intefering with play? clearly is without touching it

We'd be mad to let either of them go. Oviedo can cover two or three different positions, one of which is currently held by Pienaar (32? 33?) and the other by Baines (30?), and Garbutt looks better than Luke Shaw at the very least.
