@Deemented The one guy that stood out for Dundee was your no7. Looked a decent player.
Also staff at the ground were ace yesterday!

@alwaysblue That's Greg Stewart - he signed for us last season from Cowdenbeath. He's 25 and has been playing part-time up until last season. Nominated for Scottish Premier League Player of the year last season. He's what we are all about now - scouring the lower leagues for gems and polishing them up.

Changed days from Ravanelli, Caniggia and Ketsbaia etc!

yup, and it only took you a couple of Insolvencies to learn not to spend money you don't have. ;-)

Still it's nice to see the Dundee Support has softened in its vehemently anti-James McCarthy stance, even clapping him off the field when he went. Makes such a pleasant change from leading the booing of a 17/18 year old every time he touched the ball and singing a tailored version of the the Famine Song at him whenever you played against him. Well done, glad you finally all made it out of the 1970's

Quite how a club can influence other clubs to boo a player from a different team I'll never know but if you say so...

There have been no sectarian songs sung by the Dundee support that I can remember in all my time supporting them home and away so please keep these sorts of references to the West Coast where they belong - you seem to have some sort of agenda here which I'm finding equally baffling and amusing.

If McCarthy was ever booed by Dundee supporters (I don't particularly recall it) it's because he was a very good opposition player and nothing whatsoever to do with his adopted nationality. He was applauded in the same spirit - it's great to see young players come from Scotland and show they can make it at the highest level.

I can only hope your selective amnesia improves in the future.

Looked a tidy player and it shows that it is never too late for players.

Dundee United? A lad comes on from a side we played last night, gives us loads of credit and some blert starts giving him grief? Belter

What's your take on the general state of Scottish football in general?

Just for anyone wondering how we set up:

Joel
Coleman Stones Browning Baines
McCarthy Cleverly Barkley
Naismith--------------McAleny
Lukaku

Joel
Coleman Stones Browning Galloway
McCarthy Cleverly Barkley
Dowell---------------McAleny
Naismith

Joel
Pennington Browning Galloway Forrester
Ledson Cleverly Barkley
Dowell--------------Mirallas
Naismith
4-3-3 with neither of the wide men playing as wingers. We had width in the form of overlapping full-backs, however.

McAleny, Naismith and Mirallas when playing on either side of the front 3 were inside forwards trying to link up with the other front men or fashion opportunities for themselves.

Dowell was interesting when he came on as he played as more of an attacking midfielders looking to craft something for a team-mate or utilise the players around him.

As for the midfield trio, it was interesting to see Cleverly being the main man. Constantly coming short for the ball and getting forward and back in equal measure. Barkley did his usual thing of picking the ball up and running at defenders certainly the more advanced of the 3 despite not being off the front man as he usually is, good to see him growing in confidence. In addition, when playing slightly deeper as he distribution seems far better, including and outside of the foot through ball which was the pass of the night. McCarthy tended to sit deeper and did the mopping up were necessary though I wouldn't say he was playing as an out and out DM, none of the 3 did which is unusual for a Martinez side.

Decent performances from the defenders, Browning in particular seems to have matured a great deal. A few balls into our box seemed to split the CB pairing at times, but I feel that's more representative of the youth and inexperience of the 3 CBs who are all 21 or younger.
