Poster Valuation: #1
The weekend felt a bit weird without the storm clouds of Everton fogging your mind.

We showed good resolve to hit back from a shocking result the previous week and to have the better of a second half at Stamford Bridge, which despite their post Wilkins pining is no easy feat.

Were still sat in a very unhealthy position going into the middle of December so a few good performances/results speckled here and there don't really hide the fact that this season has been a massive disappointment thus far. What were needing is one of those runs that a Moyes team can put together to get us out of the [Poor language removed] again. [Poor language removed] knows where or if it will start but Saturday's game needs to make amends for our last day out at Goodison in some way shape or form.

Along come Wigan, like a second cousin who smells of biscuits, and it's unlikely any of us will be thinking its a walk in the park. Wigan sit in the bottom three and despite coming back from two goals down against Stoke, are on a wretched run of form under Roberto Martinez and not won an away game for quite some time.

The helicopter flying and frankly a bit creepy Dave Whelan owns both sporting clubs in the town, in which there's more than a fair few of our own fans which discounts me making cheap and poorly attempted insults on the good people of Wigan, so I'll concentrate on the poor quality of the players in the wool's squad.

The obvious threat is N'Zogbia who has been banded about on here as a future Everton player. The £10 million rejected bid from Birmingham in the summer soon put paid to Neiler's fantasy but on his day the typically hard nosed sulky Frenchman can be a handful. Rodallega is one of those players who looks boss on MOTD but a bit ordinary when you see him live. The young Scottish lad who plays for Ireland, McCarthy, always looks like he can play a bit when they play us too. As you can see, no rock is left unturned in the scouting of the opposition in these previews.

Normally we'd be looking to keep some consistency with the team but the abstract shiteness of Saha is rankling with many. Yakubu seems to have smited Moyes or his being in recent history so he's discounted. Whether Beckford is the answer on his own up front when were the ones looking to press the opposition is a different thing but he does have that knack of making stuff happen, so you'd hope he's worth a starting place. Saha it is then.
Neville's [Poor language removed] backpass aside, the defence looked comfortable against Chelsea so likely no change there. The midfield too, nice to see Fellaini and Rodwell forge the very beginnings of a competent partnership, with more time on the ball in the game expected it will be interesting to see if they can truly impose themselves on a game. Howard is scaring the living [Poor language removed] out of me recently.

In the continuing games of snakes and ladders and that were in this season, anything other than a win is going to have us approaching Christmas with not much cheer and a couple of difficult games to navigate. Too often this season we've failed to grasp momentum and make it count, this weekend needs to be different.

And me. And the back four. The lack of confidence in defence has been costing us lately, another howler today that Jags swept up.

Think it's Mucha time personally.

Nailed. Sadly.

Good write up though, Chico, as usual.

My fave bit highlighted.

Seriously though. If we can't beat Wigan at home and do it convincingly then god help us.

*pre orders Barnsley away ticket.

December is the month to remember! Shockingly we're 2 points off the top 10 (I prefer to look up, never down). Goal #1 should be to get in the top 10 by the end of the year. Do some business in January, get Beckford to start converting 1 out of every 3 of the 6 chances he gets...get Howard to a shrink and get his head right...introduce Arteta to his old self...then turn it on and challenge for Europe!

4-5-1 formation

boring football

not looking forward to this one, 2 defensive cautious managers who both have an obsession with possession in crap areas

ugly
