Why start with two DM's against a club that's 99,9% certain to park the bus? They score first and throw away the key from said bus and lock the steering wheel. Why then don't sub Barry or even McCarthy, drop Barkley a litlle bit deeper, bring on Deulofeu to play of Lukaku and get Mirallas on for Cleverley. Bringing off Lennon must be one one of the stupidist things I've seen so far this season.

And why persist with it throughout

With West Brom likely to camp themselves on the edge of their own box and hoof aimlessly towards the extraordinarily gash solomon rondon, there's definitely an argument for starting with deleofeu today. But I'd probably stick with same team from last week and look to change to Gerry around the hour mark. Could play both lennon and deleofeu potentially but again I'd probably stick with the same team.

And as always, NO HOWARD NO PROBLEMS.

This.

Couldn't agree more. Can't be arsed with the we were so unlucky everyone was phenomenal rhetoric after dross leave Goodison with three points. I'm convinced in my own mind this is what Roberto Martinez is. Flashes of brilliance but masses of frustration. Better be a change in the summer.

Well, you - and many more - wanted him to stick with the same team.

Ironically west broms annoying tactics were pretty much what we played for years under moyes and we were fine with that.

The only bad thing from today was the subs, the team did everything we could have asked and kept at them. If two of the subs were attack minded rather than kone and osman then we may have forced the goals but overall, the team had 31 attempts!

I'm not really all that bothered. We were never going to seriously challenge top 4 and I don't care whether we finish 5th or 10th.

We need to accept that at times parking the bus works....we did it often enough.

For me the season is now all about getting past Bournemouth in the cup.

Today was just one of those games. Attack V defence and that's that. Nothing more we could have done.

Today would have been fine, if it weren't for all the countless other performances at home this seasons which WERE NOT just an unlucky day at the office. The speculation continues.

Martinez and his staff had a full week to work on our tactics. Everyone knew how WBA would play. So what was plan B ? Answer take off our most likely creative player and retain 4 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders.....
So it aint hindsight and as a supposedly premiership manager, i would like to ask Bobby , are you satisfied with your judgement of the situation? Because there were tens of thousands who were feckin dumbstruck

Not sonmuch about Plan B - Plan A offered plenty of good opportunities not taken least of all by Barkley - difficult to predict players fluffing their lines.

....I thought they were very comfortable and in their position it was a fabulous result. Pulis deserves to be happy, he did a great job today.

Come on mate....that was a display in the art of anti-football. Getting beat is part and parcel of football, but getting beat by a team who had zero intention of anything positive at all is just a killer for the sport in general.
A Baggies mate texted me at full time and said he was embarrassed at how they won and that they'd had all their seasons luck in 95 minutes...I texted him back to say well done on the 3 points but commiserations having to watch that rubbish every week...he responded saying the fans have had enough of "watching absolute dross week in week out since Pulis darkened our door".

I'm afraid anyone who thinks they did a great job has totally lost the notion that football above all else is an entertainment.

Which is why you need a plan B, there was enough quality available on the bench if used correctly to change the game against a poor side

A couple of Gibson thoughts of the day to cheer everyone up.

- 2-1 down to WBA in September, bring on Gibson and Kone, win 3-2. This is nearly 5 months ago. Gibson has been available all this time but without getting a look in. Doesn't even make the bench now.

- 6th home defeat of the season. We have never lost a home game when Darron Gibson started.

Nice to see the progress being made since Gibson was banished to Siberia. No-one here can possibly tell me that Leon Osman at nearly 35 is a better option than Gibson. I called Martinez bumming of Osman on day 1 when he arrived. Nearly 3 years later he's still making my eyes bleed with this love-in. No doubt he'll say his experience of being a perennial loser is valuable to have in the squad.

Cheers Darren

I count at least 8 people better qualified to manage this this team.

nobody on the post

Get a man on the post ffs

Somebody needed to be on the far post

Poor between rom and mccarthy letting him sneak in back post

Typical Roberto martinez. No man on back post. Under 8 football.

I remember learning at age 10 about players on posts.
Ridiculous

He was in a good position, looping flukey header, a man on the back post would have been nice, that was the error on our part.

What about having a man there in the first place and he'd just have headed it out. Put a man on the post. Simple football defending
