Very frustrating. Baines managed to sky the free kick he took, but couldn't beat the first man on a single corner.

I was amazed we didn't try more short corners and then get the ball in from a different angle. As far as I can remember we only went short once. I know the crowd always groan when we don't try to lump it into the box but we look much more dangerous when we try and work the ball a bit.

Plainly it doesn't help when Bainesy ( *nods to Chico ) does an Arteta impersonation by not beating the first man, but, if we mixed it up a bit it'd draw a defender or two out of the 6 yard box.

Can't understand why I'm not in charge at Goodison really

u watched he same game as me, boss

Maybe baines isnt naturally comfortable doing whichever type of cross we do (in or out swinger) I would imagine each one has a certain way to deliver. Regardless the way we do it and the way martinez utilises them are poor, they could get us extra points over the course of the season if we used them well

Problem is, the players don't have any conviction in going for the ball from corners anyway. Doesn't matter how good the corner might be we're never near it and if we are we never get a clean head on it. This can only stem from RM's dismissive attitude towards the value of corners. It needs changing.

why all this rubbish about corners, hardly any goals come from corners, sure you remember the goals, but forget the thousands that do not result in a goal.
For god sake moan about something else, it very boring.

Basic Numbers
At the mid point of the 2012/13 season these are the raw numbers for corners in the Premier League:

Corners Goals % chance of a goal
2098, 73, 3.47%.

The % chance of a corner resulting in a goal is just 3.47%. Yet, we get so excited about corners!

So its not better to try and improve that stat by taking better corners then?
Instead we should dismiss them as some kind of inferior goal it's beneath us to score and take such crap corners it seems like the opposition have more chance of scoring following one of our corners than we do.

Let's just kick the ball out for a goal kick then.

Back from England now, it wasn't the best game to fly over and see, eh.
The atmosphere when Shelvey got sent off was ace though.
Made the mistake of buying a foot long hot dog, what on earth are they made of.

Didn't notice Alcaraz's save with his hand until the morning after, clear penalty! He was walking of the pitch later anyway..

Players doing well was McCarthy who I think was outstanding, he covered so much. And Jagielka did well marking Bony I think too.

Awesome! Where in the US are you from? Hot dogs weren't good? That is disappointing.

I heard a statistic during the game that we had the most or 2nd most goals from corners.

I think people assume other teams score more goals from corners than they do.
