As mad as his reign was, he's got us here. And he deserves a lot of credit. He genuinely has affection for the club. He should be remembered so much more fondly than 'lifelong Evertonian' Bill Kenwright.

Meant well, nearly destroyed us, will be remembered as a significant figure.

He had one thing Bill Kenwright didn't - and this is the key difference: vision.

A lunatic, reckless, and dangerous for our club. But transformational, for all that. He at least saw us as something more than a suburban Tesco supermarket bolt-on. For that, and only that, I would shake his hand.
