"Everton manager Sam Allardyce defended his side's style of football as the Toffees laboured to a 1-0 victory over Newcastle on Monday."

Style? What style? There wasn't any.

The journey home in the dark was more exciting.

I gave it to morgan. Keane made 1 or 2 mistakes but was very good otherwise as well. Walcott put in a good shift. Tosun feeds off scraps but had some decent rouches.

I've slated the lad in his thread but apart from the last 20 mins when he got booked I thought Keane played well.

I'm voting with the majority here.
Morgan Schneiderlin was probably the only one to impress me last night. This may be due to having low expectations of him though.
If the robot/mascot had been a choice, I would have voted for that.

..two central midfielders in Rooney and Schneiderlin who play like quarterbacks spraying the ball from deep, supported by a ‘ratter’ in Gueye. Nobody to pick the ball up centrally and run at the opposition with purpose. It’s how you draw defenders out, it’s how you create space in the top third and make chances.

You mean, a bit like putting a balanced team together?. Now theres a thought Eggs.

I don't know. You'll be calling for a bit of movement off the ball next.

Didnt see the game but just going from the match thread on here it has to be Schneiderlin.

Seems to have got his game back starting with the derby. If he could do this week in we'd save ourselves a problem, but the question is can we trust him.

Personally I'd still replace him and this spell of good form will help get a more decent price for him.

Yes...but Rooney worked particularly hard last night. He has not got the legs he had but his desire gets him through quite a lot. Two or three Siggi type passes forward last night would have been lauded if they had got through to a runner, and his defensive shift for the last 15 mins was magnificent. Used properly, he can be of use to us,but the secret is 'used properly'. Schneiderlin MUST have been told to start passing forward, and so he begins to look like a player. Three or four additions and some deadwood removed and we'll have a team. I know he plays for a relegated team, but Shaquiri is worth looking at in the summer. The Barcodes were on a good run...Kenedy is a good player, and Slimani was keen to impress,so we defended quite well. Whatever the lemmings say about SAm, he's definitely not daft.

Does Anyone know why Goodison were so quiet yesterday?
It was embarrassing I thought. Not the GP I know.

Some protest?

I think we played quite well, especially in the first half.
