On paper hes miles better, but the games not played on paper, baines has been poor. Garbutts been sound

Perhaps, but the Leicester game showed that a Besic-McCarthy midfield might not be the most progressive option.

So if it comes to a choice between him and McCarthy, I would have to go for McCarthy atm.
