"In the first half we did enough to win the game, but you don't win games with one-goal margins.

I'm incredibly proud of the effort of the players. In the second half we were disrupted - Leighton Baines got a knock to the nose and got punished when Hull got the goal and we didn't have the energy to get the winning goal.

With the number of games it's incredibly high - the effort and character was magnificent. They came here with a clear approach - a lot of energy and made it difficult to break them down. Hull were ruthless in taking their chance"
*Sigh*

As I said in another thread, a bit of optimism is a good thing.

However, I think you'll find that pretty much every other individual in the stadium will disagree with you Roberto.

Has for me. We don't have the players to call off the bench to change a game enough and the chopping and changing has come in a bid to try and stop teams from sitting deep against us. It's like how teams are looking at the red [Poor language removed] before a match knowing that if they keep it tight at the back the chances of scoring at the other end are pretty high and it's the same thing being done to us.

Deulofeu...a key component to EFC's success last season

To say the season is over is bullsht! Things can change quickly, and we're "only" 2 points below Spurs and Liverpool, and 7 from 4th. On the other side we're also only 7 points from 18th too. -_- . Based on our recent performences and especially the one today, i know it doesn't seem like it is going to change, but i believe this is as low as it gets and Martines better face it and let the players know! The least they can do is give it a go and try.
Today was absolute shte and hopefully the worst performance we will see this season. Distin and Pienaar seem to be done for good.
That's the problem. It's not just Distin and Pienaar but Howard, possibly Barry and Osman. Baines is also not the player of a couple of seasons ago either.

The squad is too old and in certain high tempo games they just look like old men playing against teenagers.

Martinez strikes me as too sentimental and BK is unlikely to allow him to go out and buy plus he's just handed most of them long contracts.

I think it will be January until we get Stones back and new signings hopefully before this turns around but this is Everton, when have we spent our way out of trouble. At least with Moyes he could work with what he had and grind out decent results. Can Martinez?

I hope he start playing on the counter attack and setting us up defensively just until we get the ship steadied.

First game i have been able to make all season and what a shambles of a performance, as bad as anything i have seen under previous Managers tonight. Play like that Saturday and we are in for a hiding.

That tonight was disgusting, absolutely atrocious.

Tim Howard had twice as many touches as Lukaku did. That is really is farcical and speaking of farcical, what the deuce were those substitutions? Martinez's tactics have been simply atrocious over the pass month or so and he has to talk as much blame as the players, if not more. Anymore of that and everyone is going to turn on him very quickly and rightfully so because these tactics are shocking.

How many times did we pass back into out own half when we had them under pressure and penned in? We barely made a forward pass all night, pathetic.

Dont care unless we win there. Anything else is dissapointing.
That's what we need, last season we started with 3 draws and got a backs to the wall victory against Chelsea which really kickstarted our season. We need the same at the Etihad. At least it will be a totally different game, a bit like Wolfsburg so you never know.

Unfortunately though, we have neither the players or apparent mentality for either tactic.

I'm not saying we should automatically revert to hoof football, far from it.

However, when nothing else is working I'd at least like to see the ball in the box. Someone might head it. May get a knock down, or a mistake.

As currently we are simply passing it around the outside of their area, and producing very little opportunities.
We don't have Fellaini. We're a small team who loose every 50/50.
