Match Thread Everton v Hajduk Split

One of their fans was saying yesterday that one of their key centre halves (forget his name) could be unavailable as he hasn't played the last couple of their games. Not that we necessarily need them to be without key players, but it would be a bonus I guess.

Hajduk is missing two key players. Borja Lopez the best CB and Marko Futacs the leading goalscorer. Also one RB Tudor and a Winger Erceg are very doubtfull sincr they started training yesterday only.

Also whoever was discussing beer dont drink either Ozujsko or Karlovacko. Both is made with corn instead of wheat or barley or anything remotely beer worthy. If you like Carling then you might like it.

What surprises me watching us vs watching the RS is how much more space their players seem to have when attacking.
I am in no way endorsing them, but watching them v Watford it was mad to see Mane and Salah standing way out wide in acres of space and getting delivered balls to their feet from Henderson and then have them attack the full backs.
Whenever I watch us we're always fannying around, cumbersome and slow on the ball, usually looking for intricate passes and ultimately losing possession.
I'd like us to play more like them in an attacking sense. They are a joke defensively, but if we could find the space that their players manage to we'd be a lot more dangerous.

Would be great to see us really attack, tonight would be a nice opportunity to show it.
I agree. None if our front 4-5 know how the other will play so constantly seem to second guess each other hence the slow down. Once they figure out each other hopefully players can play to each other rather than watching each other first

First of all, hi.

To answer your question, that's right, the best centre back is out and that's a big blow. More so because he makes a great pair with the other CB, who's also the captain of the team. And because he's great at taking the ball forward from the back line. On the other hand, his missing could mean Hajduk will be even more cautious and in fact a harder nut to crack. It will be a tough encounter, I don't see many goals here

How many Hajduk fans travelled for this one? Have you seen them in the city? Any troubles?
Around 1k tickets has been sold in Split. It is to be expected around 1.5k at most will be there. Flights are expensive sadly.

Also I expect Everton to push today for a healthy 3 goal margin win due to their fixtures next week. I cant see us getting anything in this clash. Only thing I am excited for is watching Rooney and the rest next week. Sad that there wont be Sigurdsson.

Supposedly they are down on Mathew st.
Apparently, both us and Liverpool recommend the William Gladstone, as the away pub (Not sure why) for European guests, so naturally, Mathew St will happen.

Apparently between 800-1000, should be a good atmosphere tonight.

The away trip will be a miserly affair so its important to get a win to nil here. The more the better - hopefully its a 2-0 or more. 1st half lead is imperative or we will start to get frustrated.

The away fixture is worrying me, hoping we get a few goals tonight. Our display in Kiev is still haunting me, and Im worried our players might break in the same way during the away fixture.

I actually saw them play against Levski when they eliminated them/us/whatever in the last round.

The most apt description would be "agricultural football".

78-1 to Everton, Klaasen with 77 goals, and 2 goals by Rooney (1 is an own goal obviously).

I'm pretty sure Koeman will go true to form with the comfort blanket of 2 DMs, maybe just for the first half - Gana and Schneids - then bring Davies on later in the game. Either for Klaassen or as a swap of one of the DMs. Wont want to concede an away goal.

Having said that, I'd want to see mostly what others have already suggested

Pickford
Kenny
Jagielka
Keane
Baines
Gueye
Davies
Klaassen
Lookman
Rooney
DCL

We're at home ffs.
Lets try and take a 3 goal cushion just for once into a tricky away tie.
