I would play a 442 but a cautious version with direct play to 2 strikers, and two banks of 4.

Lossl
Sidibe Holgate Mina Digne
Walcott Davies Schneiderlein Bernard
Kean Richarlison

Something like that.

I obviously don't want to have to play Morgan either but there's no one else. And Iwobi doesn't fit that shape which needs hard work tracking back.

There's always someone else.

I will be extremely disappointed in Big Duncan if he starts with any four of Pickford/Keane/Sigurdson/Schneiderlin/DCL.

If he starts all five I won't be watching.

Better hope Ferguson doesn’t completely changes the team and formation because if we win. His name goes in the hat.

He probably will. I can't see him trying any new tactics or formations. His thing will be getting them to come out of the traps all fired up.

....with the players we have available, we totally lack athleticism in defensive areas. I don’t just mean the back four, when the opposition get past the likes of Davies they have a free run. We have too many players who simply can’t run.

The key for the Manager is to try best to overcome this issue with tactics. Perhaps sit the back four a bit deeper and play a disciplined defensive midfielder who literally stays in front of the CBs. Lee Carsley and Gareth Barry did that to good affect. I think we only have Schneiderlin who naturally does this, and his contribution is underwhelming.

Be interesting what Ferguson does because he can’t make slow players fast.

Best get on the phone to the Russians.

This is my team. 4-4-1-1

Lössl (will be Pickford though)
Sidibe (probably be Coleman)
Holgate (no alternative)
Mina (trained yesterday, hopefully fit)
Digne (obvious choice)
Richarlison (wide right, supporting Sidibe)
Davies (sadly, no alternative)
Sigurdsson (playing deeper, only alternative to Schneiderlin)
Bernard (fully fit, needs to regain that partnership with Digne)
Iwobi (behind the striker)
Kean (DCL or Tosun absolutely don't deserve to start)
