Carlo wasn't the same.

Ancelotti didn't do stuff out of petiness. He was pragmatic.

Benitez has proved he is just stubborn.

I have no issue with 3 at the back, no issue with saying he's had a bad hand too. He's had bad luck with injuries. I don't even mind that Digne is going to go as long as we get a good deal.

But this isn't putting the team first.

Digne is gone this month mate - he aint risking him getting an injury.

Would it have been any different under King Carlo playing for a 1-0 result?

Some fans have very short memories.
Previous 4 home games v Brighton

2018 - 59% under Allardyce
2018 - 61% under Silva
2020 - 53% under Ancelotti
2020 - 43% under Ancelotti

We fall under that today, regardless of result then it’s poor on Benitez’ part and no excuse

Then why have him on the bench at all?

We need points.

We have Townsend out, so that's a good crosser out of the team. Digne is a great crosser, with DCL back, and he's a left-footed LB.

We look to be playing a 5-man defence including two RBs, one of whom is going to be out of the door by the summer at the latest, if not this month, in Kenny. So you can't use the 'not risking him because of injury' excuse.

BBC have us:

Pickford
Kenny Coleman Keane Holgate Godfrey
Gordon Doucoure Allan Gray
DCL

I think we are:

Pickford
Kenny Keane Holgate Godfrey
Coleman Doucoure Allan Gordon
Gray
DCL
