I think he'll play

Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
McCarthy Barry
Mirallas Naismith Pienaar
Lukaku
So no surprises there however I would love it if we play Besic and dropped Pienaar and went 4-3-3 like last season. The only problem is that Wenger probably has devised a solution to what we did then.

We can't afford to loose this one.

This is one of those games where you wouldn't be surprised with a win, lose or a draw. Anything could happen here.

I think we can win it, but I can't see us doing it in style like we did last season at Goodison. Not without Barkley, and not with our sub-par pre-season and the sluggish start last week. Saying that Arsenal also struggled to get into gear last week and they too have a few injuries and have played in Europe mid-week, so this match will probably be as tight as ever.

We've got the home advantage, a sold out Goodison Park, and that first-game of the season atmosphere though so I'm gonna go for Everton 2 - 1 Arsenal.

COYB!!!

I reckon itll be a starting XI of:

Howard

Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines

Barry McCarthy

Lukaku Pienaar Kev or McGeady

Naismith

With Gibbs injured, a non-match fit Mertesacker, I cant see why Martinez wouldnt target Monreal again. I cant see from their potential line up what theyve got to stop a repeat of last season? Lads?

They've got their best midfielder back fit and they've got pace to attack us on the break which they didn't have last season

At least Arsenal arent a massive set piece threat so hopefully the Jagielka Distin combination wont cost us again. Would like to see Gibson play a role at some point.

Wow that's a shout. You can rotate the front four too to look like

Kev Nais Pienaar

Rom
You can also have Pienaar drop in to midfield to make the 4-3-3 like Barkley did last year

Rom Kev

Nais
They won't have a clue who to pick up.

...I don't know whether Arteta being injured and confirmed as missing the game is a plus for us. They have really struggled to contain Barkley so I think it will be a different kind of game without his running power. Have a feeling Baines/Pienaar magic will sprinkle a little gold dust on proceedings.
