Everton Under 21s (aka the Reserves)

No wonder we lost if we only fielded 10 players.

Seriously, though, I'm worried about our Reserves. Stubbs shouldn't be anywhere near the Club imho.

why? have you had personal dealings of stubbs coaching talents and wasnt for you or just randomly saying stubbs wudnt be a coach at club

stubbs doesn't seem to be up to the job and this should be changed immediately before it's too late and we end up in the lower division. saying he shouldn't be near the club is a bit farfetch'd though, was a great servant to our club

I can't speak for Aberblue and don't want to put words in his mouth, but can share some of my own thoughts.

In the past, Stubbs advised Rooney to leave Everton, then in the summer of 2005, Stubbs rejected the chance of playing CL footy (and maybe cost us it) and walked out on the club, making some very unfortunate accusations that he later publicly retracted upon his return to the club a few months later.

He was handed the Reserves managers job despite having zero coaching experience, and has not really excelled at all. I've said it previously, the Everton Reserves managers' job should not be the starting point for a coach's career, the development of our younger players is more important than that. Times have changed. We're at the point now where we are spending six figures sums bringing in top youth players from here and abroad to develop, and that isn't going to happen with rookie bosses. We should pay decent money to get a good coach from the lower leagues, or even as someone suggested, maybe from abroad. I've never really bought into the 'Moyes jobs for the boys' thoughts, but I'm beginning to reconsider now. Fresh ideas are clearly needed.

100% correct. On top of all that, I remember an interview he gave at half time in our last Europa League game. It was 0 - 0 at the interval but we were playing very badly and it seemed only a matter of time before we conceded. Stubbs was complacency personified, everything was fine, we weren't in trouble etc etc. The game ended in a 3 - 0 defeat.

In the end, though, what matters is that our Reserves are consistently losing and young players like Berkley, Vellios and others aren't improving.

is right, we spent a 7 figure sum on that green lad, we're not very wealthy so gambles like that need to be placed in better hands. suprised moyes gave him the job after hearing that top paragraph, didn't know the full story on that so kind of take back what i said about him being a great servant
