Funny seeing people trying to defend our lack of spending.

There is no defence.

The defence is the club doesn't have to work to some timeline that impatient panicky fans have made up in their head.

There will be signings by the close of the transfer window, that should be enough for you and all the other stress merchants.

Stating that there is no defence for the club not matching your exact requirements to have signed first team players by July 18th is more than just a little bit ridiculous.

So basically the record of a decent journeyman manager which is what the original point was. A European Mark Hughes or a Dutch Davy Moyes.

I didn't see the original point I'm afraid mate, I just saw Zats comment about him leaving clubs in a difficult situation. In his last two jobs, particularly Feyenoord nothing could be further from the truth. I think that is an important point to note for two reasons.

Firstly they are his last 2 jobs. It's clear Koeman is a talented, quite highly strung and opinionated individual. I suspect in the early part of his career as a young manager he probably got the balance a little wrong. It does look like, after the AZ job he had a little time to reflect and he toned down some of his behaviour and became a little calmer. I would say that was an epiphany for him and you can judge what happens after that as a little different to what happened before.
I do also think, "you're only as good as your last job" can provide some useful incites to it. His last two jobs he has shown a stability that is quite absent in previous jobs.

The other important point to note is (particularly the Feyenoord job) the last 2 jobs have most in common with the job he's being asked to do at Everton now. Feyenoord were a big club who had dropped to the bottom half of the table and hadn't won anything for some time. he very quickly turned them around and had them in the top 2. A lot of the other jobs at top teams would be like taking over Chelsea here and have little in common with the job currently required at Everton.

As for the "decent journeyman manager" well I suppose it's down to perception. There is much positive about Moyes as a manager but probably his Achilles heel was his ability to get over the line in big games. I don't suspect Koeman would have that problem. You only need to look at his trophy cabinet as a manager, 8 trophies in 3 different countries to see he is a cut above Hughes and even Moyes. I am not sure Hughes has ever managed to finish in the top 6 of a league (which Koeman managed last season).

We can only raise our wage bill by 7mil plus any revenue excluding TV money so we would have to sell to increase our wage bill.

We get 53mil for Stones then we can increase by 60mil (we won't though).
What because the esk says so. It doesn't seem to be effecting anyone else. Besides we have lost 4 high earners. We could already use another 7m from the TV money and we would have to next year to balance the books. So plenty of time to get those big commercial deals in.

Cant argue with feyenoord but ajax dont forget he had Ibra i think and some other stars who should have won there easily.

southampton hes kept them in the same place as poch did with ours and liverpools fall...

Leno is FAR better than Horn, hes as close to workd class as you can be without being a national team starter. The best keepers bar horn and neuer have all left germany havent they?

Fair point and is he as good as Der Stegen? I find it interesting nobody has taken a punt on him.

Hope I'm wrong, but somthing really doesn't add up. I said when Moshiri turned up that it's was either a new beginning or just another Kenwright 'friend' who'll mean he can keep hold of the club. Right now it looks like we're needing to sell stones before we sign anyone. All fart an no poo regards transfers.

It's not fanciful though. If you speak to senior officials of other clubs there's a recognition that this sleeping giant is about to be awoke. History shows that at times we can compete financially with other clubs we win trophies.

We have the potential to break into the PL established elite and our peers are concerned rightly that we will do so.
Really. You think we can compete with the likes of Utd who are just about to blow 100m on Pogba.

Can I ask why you think that?

So we are on a par with Palace at least there!

Even without any signings we are stronger than last season due to the fact we have a manager that can organise a defence. Not playing Howard will also lead to an improvement.

Everton have never done buying for the sake of buying. We moaned about dithering Dave but in that period we had one of the best hit rates for successful transfers and also for player retention at the club. This gave us stability, a good reputation in the market place with players and other clubs, a fantastic team spirit, and ultimately allowed us to compete on a shoe string.

Just because we now have the resources in place does not mean we need to abandon those principles that served us well in the transfer market. FSG have been burned multiple times, as have Ellis Short, Mike Ashley and Randy Lerner, rich owners who 'showed ambition' and 'backed their manager' throwing money at the latest names in the European game but to no success. Moshiri Koeman and Kenwright are all football people with so much experience. We should be glad they are at the club rather than trigger happy owners and scatter gun managers with no plan like Rodgers or McClaren or O Neill. If they are biding their time, then I trust they are doing it for the right reasons. If it's taking a few weeks longer to get a good value deal rather than spending 15 mill on a Jordan Ibe then I would rather do that every time than panic buy.

I am supremely confident that over the next month or so we will see the needs of the squad in the goal keeping position, creative mid and potentially backup striker sorted out with quality solutions.
Tell that to Barkley, Rom and Stones who are going to start getting itchy feet at the prospect of being stuck in another struggling team.

Jury's out on Koeman, plus we're down 4 senior squad players.

There's no way we can say we're stronger than last season.

....and he's practiced set pieces with the squad...SET PIECES...!!!!!!

Why, I never thought I'd see the like again.

Tbb the lack of signings is due to Koeman checking out the players and who he can work with and finding outhe what we need. For example
Is stones staying or going so we don't know what type of defender we need

Is lukaku staying or going? Do we need a backup or main striker

Where does he put barkley

Does he rate our wingersite
