Pelle - 31 next week, 20 mil, not going to get any better. Been dropped by koeman too many times last season. Does have pl and int experience, and has played on some big stages. Also has Cl/Europa exp, but at 31 you wouldn't expect anything less for 20m signing....

Haller - 22 years old, 7 mil, huge opportunity to make a name for his self, especially working with rom Ron and big dunk, all perfect coaches and mentors for his style of play. Will be highly motivated and ready to become the best, unlike pelle, who's not getting any better and looking for one of his last pay cheques

At 22 with that sort of class surrounding him, and there actually is a bid put in for him, has the potential to be one of Rons best signings

Rather go for Milik than either of them

It is concerning that in 5 weeks we'll have already played our first game of the season, and our squad, which wasn't even good enough to finish top half last two seasons, is about 5 players down and there's no real indication that anybody will be coming in any time soon.

We've seen this many times, signing players too late and having a terrible start to the season as a result. The board should have acted quicker upon sacking Martinez, as now it looks like whoever comes in will likely get 2-3 weeks at best with the squad before being thrown in at the deep end.

Hardly ideal.

Now if we make 4 quality signings in the next week, ignore all of the above. Just cannot see it happening though, we signed Stecklenberg instead.

Going off the areas I think we need and filling them in with players we've been linked with/players I like;

GK - Begovic.
RB - no idea but Seamus needs some competition.
CB - Schar, Dragovic.
CM - Witsel, Schneiderlin/Strootman
LM - imagine Mata will play here and link up with Baines.
CF - Pelle, Haller, Helen Keller. Ok maybe only 2 of those 3.

Yeah Pelle is too old

No. pipe down.

If we sign Mata, I'm thinking the starting XI will be

GK) New Keeper

RB) Coleman

CB) Jags

CB) Stones/New CB

LB) Baines

RM) Del

CM) Barkley

CM) McCarthy/Besic/Barry/Witsel

LM) Kev/New LM

AM) Mata

ST) Lukaku/New striker

Depending on the replacements if players leave, that's a decent First XI. With some squad depth, I reckon we'd be alright

Nah he'd provide actual competition to Rom and a damn good alternative when we're struggling to get the breakthrough. What's more, if Rom decided to down tools like he did last season we'd actually have someone to come in that can score.
Good point, really need 2 strikers that will guarenttee goals

Spurned a lot of chances in the group stages against average opposition, I wanted him too, but after tracking him over the last few weeks I'm not that keen anymore. Plus Haller is bigger and meaner ;)

Lukaku couldn't hit a barn door most games mate, Lewandowski hardly had a shot

Wouldn't go of a striker having a good tournament or not - but things like his link up play, touch, passing - ability to hold the ball up all looked impressive to me, and rather have a bloke who gets in those scoring positions and misses than one who just goes missing in games, his finishing just improves by a little he would have been sat on 4-5 goals after the group - small margins and all that

Theres a few decent options i guess around, Dzeko (bad last season though) springs to mind as one option, another is trying to be cheeky buggers with City and get Iheanacho on a season loan as part of the Stones deal
