I would have had James Collins from West Ham to get us through to the end of the season, but hes just signed another two year contract! Body on the line kind of centre half, not quick, not fancy, just clears the ball and defends his keeper!

I really can't see us signing a goalkeeper. Maybe in summer.

Think you aren't going to get further than that urkrainian fella who has the same agent as yarmalenko. Either we are signing him or not signing one at all.

Think Howard needs to be leaving before we see one come in so see if there is anything on that front. I doubt it though now.

....from the YouTube clips he's certainly more Naismith than Lukaku. Albanian parents but born and raised in Switzerland. Ineffective debut season but has got a few goals this term, the scouts must like what they see.

Cant see us signing a centre half as jags is back soon-ish. Shame, as has been mentioned, we could do with buying an experienced, no nonsense, centre half. Jags will need replacing in a season or two.

Can't see him buying GK unfortunately either, too much like common sense.

Think it'll be one more signing possibly an out and out striker or someone who can play wide as well. Clear a few more dead wood too hopefully.

I like the idea of Austin, premiership ready, not much of a gamble, personally i'd love to see the following as Watford and Leicester have shown 442 is very effective:

Robles
Coleman Stones Jagielka Baines
Deulofeu McCarthy Barry Barkley
Austin Lukaku

Can go to a five in midfield with Lukaku out left if you wanna shut a game down last 15 mins.

(Barkley free role to come in off the wing - i think his problems last season were a natural confidence based, development blip not specifically where he was being played)

Ok so they type of player is someone who has bags of experience in a good defence but is coming to the end of their career, lurking around in the reserves of top Premier League or European team and wants one last challenge - people like Puyol, Vidic, Vlaar, Richards - although I don't know how fit or available or motivated each is personally.

I'm just gonna curl in to a ball, put the all time great Forever Everton album on repeat and imagine us signing a proper Vidic style CB, a competent goalkeeper (or remember Robles is actually eligible to play league games too) and hire a top notch defensive coach all in January. Wake me up in a month please lads :zzz:
