Although it does bring me to a point - I'm sure the stats of you young 'uns' games are accurate, but for someone of my age (or anyone over about 25) it seems odd that you place so much faith in a game when it comes to players.

These are algorithms written in code, and will never deviate. They don't take into account the stress of a newborn baby, or getting married (eg. Coleman) has on a player.

Call me old fashioned (or just old) but I prefer to see a player in the flesh before trusting a set of programmed mathematical equations, no matter how good the scouting for it is.
 
Scouting/academies must be the far better way of identifying players. I can see the use of stats and stuff that this FM thingy does as a way of screening out players, (minimum criteria say), but as the data is available to everyone in the world, the use of it is hardly an edge is it?
 
Think this is on topic (sort of). Who has been our most successful January signing? I guess I'm thinking about Roberto's repeated statements about his aversion to Jan signings (and I see a certain logic), but Moyes pulled a few rabbits out of his hat in Jan: Arteta, Coleman and Jelavic come to mind. Always felt Moyes thought it gave the team and fans a lift (of course he also sold some key players during this window). Do folks feel we need signings for morale. Don't get the sense that people feel that urgent need. More like folks just want him to get more from the squad he has. We all want a new goalie but that's not happening in Jan, is it?

Suppose it is how it's used mate really, could say that every club also has scouts as well, its the quality of not only the scout but those that analyse the report of the scout that counts more.

As for FM, always had time for it as it was created by two blues and as one resource a club has available there is a hell of a lot worse thigns they could use, as i say though as long as it forms a very small part of the system used by a club it could be beneficial.

From memory a few of the researchers they had ended up being hired by some very good clubs to join the scouting networks of them.

Prefer that system than was it Nyarko who was signed based on a 5 minute video given to smith by his agent?

You mention rabbits out of the hat and don't mention Stones? Or even Big Dunc himself? Both were Jan signings.

When Stones signed for us on deadline day, when we were linked with Negredo, everyone on Twitter wondered who the hell he was and Twitter called us tinpot and a small club, that Stones would never touch our first team and would rot in the reserves. Oh how times have changed.

From memory i'd have to say Kev Campbell - pretty sure he was signed in a January - failing that then Big Dunc

I'm not too sure we signed either in Jan, could be wrong but the 2 times we signed Ferguson,One was from Newcastle which was in a pre-season and the other time we signed him was on loan under Mike walker and he didn't last until January and I'm reasonably sure Campbell came later than Jan (no transfer window at that point) he scored something like 10 in 10 to keep us up. 10 games from the end of the season wouldn't have stretched back to Jan
