Scouting/academies must be the far better way of identifying players. I can see the use of stats and stuff that this FM thingy does as a way of screening out players, (minimum criteria say), but as the data is available to everyone in the world, the use of it is hardly an edge is it?
Suppose it is how it's used mate really, could say that every club also has scouts as well, its the quality of not only the scout but those that analyse the report of the scout that counts more.
As for FM, always had time for it as it was created by two blues and as one resource a club has available there is a hell of a lot worse thigns they could use, as i say though as long as it forms a very small part of the system used by a club it could be beneficial.
From memory a few of the researchers they had ended up being hired by some very good clubs to join the scouting networks of them.
