Whilst I agree to an extent, if Brands is in charge of securing transfers then he has not secured any of the plan a, b, c or D targets which is poor.
Its not the first time either.

As many have said, RB in particular has been an issue for years. Not addressing it before now is a massive black mark against him regardless of what your opinion is of him otherwise.

This window, though, he has been cut off at the knees by a sheer inability to spend anything of note. That doesn’t excuse him of anything, but if we couldn’t find an RB under otherwise perfect market conditions, I suppose our expectations probably should have shifted accordingly when the padlock was put on his piggy bank.

Agree but how can they not have asked whether any planned outgoings would affect Small chances and were Everton not forthcoming with their response?

It's all very weird when we literally are losing cover in those positions?

We will never known the inner workings and much of what is on here is guesswork but we can all say failings in our recruitment/sales etc so just who is overseeing that?

Id imagine they did but it still doesn't mean he's obliged to be starting the next game if Digne is out.
He's 17. He needs to know his place.

Never like leaving it too late and relying on players to leave first, don’t like the idea of James coming back in the squad after being told basically you’re not needed or wanted nkonkou going out on loan isn’t great either means either Delph as cover when/if fit or Godfrey which breaks centre back pairing up. Diaz deal was based on James moving on and was a smokescreen for If richarlison was to leave no rb cover leaving Kenny or holgate not impressed and also rondon if complete meh hardly gets my undies wet.

Utd have ferguson ringing Ronaldo we have kenwrong ringing rondon and still no deal

“Bloody pick up the phone Rondon”

Our club is FAR from blameless, in this and many other windows when it comes to failing to improve the squad. My issue is with treating every transfer made by every other club as a missed opportunity by us. It is tiresome, especially when there are so many legitimate digs you could take at the club!!
Damage was done before Brands came along. He tried to fix it but having 5 managers in 5 years hasn’t helped, not even like the manager have had the same philosophy, been a major problem.

Maybe shows the lack of communication in the club to be honest, we have certainly experienced it as fans last few months. Sorry state of affairs really, shame for Small too looked a talent.
Small knew Nkounkou was likely to be loaned but it made no difference. His head had been turned by a new agent who promised him the world...@nd delivered him Southampton. [Poor language removed] happens!

Never really felt like that Diaz deal was on, did it?
A lot of cynics on here like to go on about phantom bids to appease fans. This absolutely felt like one of those. It’d have been a no-win for the club anyway because if we’d have paraded our fancy £30m winger about without having spent the relative pittance to sort out the RB position there’d have been kickoffs anyway.

Ours should have? Or more to the point, the DOF should have.

These financial circumstances will have been projected by the financial guys at least in January and Brands should have been contingency planning based on whatever circumstances are applied at the time.
