Watched Rabiot today for Juve and to be honest, I just dont get the hype.
Strolls around the pitch and apart from a 2 yards safe pass does nothing with the ball.

Been saying for ages he will drive Everton fans insane, he has that Berbatov NEA swagger. The amount of heart attacks amongst our balding angry dad demographic would go through the roof.

He is as slow as Gomes and has the same influence or lack of it on the game as Andre.
I'm sure that technically he is a fine player but the polar opposite of what we need in midfield .
We need someone with the athleticism of Doucoure but with the ability to retain possession , carry the ball and pass it accurately.

I don't think he's much better than a 75% motivated Schneiderlein. Problem is Schneiderlein was only about 25% at best motivated for us most of the time.

Do not disagree, we need a lot better. Especially because you can ignore the off the pitch issues with players as long as they produce on the pitch most of the time and Rabiot has a LOT of off the pitch issues.

Having a swagger on the pitch is fine if you produce the goods.

There’s good players to be got from the championship. Battle hardened and ready to go.

But let’s be honest 2/3 players from the championship. Is not going to get us into the top 4. That was Moyes style. And when it really mattered they weren’t good enough.

Need the balance as well. Like I’ve said countless times. Ancelotti is on 11mil a season, he’s been brought in for quick-ish results.

If it was
A case of buying young and building long term, they maybe would have hired another young up and coming manager. I think we will buy at least one player whirs at his peak 27/28 amd maybe another couple 24/25. But we will see this summer. But I don’t expect 3 signings from the championship

Great to have him, Richarlison and DCL competing for 2 centre forward positions...not sure he'd accept that unless of course Carlo and Brands managed to convince him that with (if) europe theres plenty of games.

Also of course Kean would be off, though these two are great players theres no way we'd take their salaries with their injury history:

I think we should steer clear of trying to make “statement signings” or bringing in “big names” this summer and actually look to assemble a functioning team. That includes swerving the likes of Rabiot and Bale and Koulibaly and 95% of players that get thrown about in this thread

There's absolutely nothing wrong with getting good championship players. There are loads of them out there. I would have loved us to get Watkins last summer, Godfrey seems to be fitting in well, and Aarons could be coming as well.

If we had focused more on the championship market recently we'd have less deadwood

Just buy good players who can run and pass and at least one who can actually beat a man

We need mobility and players who carry the ball. We dont need technical passers, we need players who drive forward with the ball.

We have a team that is built for a slow paced technical league like the eridivese or serie a.

I think we should sign the myriad of already world class 15 yearolds that the French league is absolutely brimming with and put them all in our team straight away

Gordons spell has been horrific by the looks of it, only started a few games and was ragged off first again yesterday

Brainthwaite hasn't started in a good few games now as well

He got MOTM recently. Think Brainthwaite got an injury but was a regular before that.

Both getting worthwhile experience either way.
