The FA did also just cancel a Chelsea transfer as they were looking to bring someone in from the Russian league. This move seems unlikely.

I don't think we do, unless we do some substantial wage dumping today. Need 9-10 million pounds in the current year's accounts to do it, due to amortization.

Exactly. He was essentially off to Newcastle for the same price. Could be a situation where it’s too late to replace. Then again I think it was Fab who reported it was done with Newcastle (he wasn’t the only one) and that was a big whiff so who knows.

Can understand going in late if we have £25m and £25m only - imagine a week ago if we’d made the bid and been gazumped!
