Ah the magic powers of the Bellefield tree.

Kanchelskis. In a similar way to Jelavic, he was phenomenal when he arrived but his drop in form was unbelievable.

WHAT? WHAT? I am trying my hardest to not neg you into an alternate universe where John Oster played instead of Kanchelskis.
I am physically hurt. I've not felt this way since Diana. Andrei was magic.

In terms of players who signed being badly gash, I'd probably have to include near enough everyone we signed in 2000. The likes of Pistone, Alexandersson, Nyarko et al.

Most of the signings I've been disappointed in are the ones where you knew the players had ability and it just never happened for them much here for one reason or another. And in that I would honestly include Rooney - everyone knew of his talent and then he was gone before he was out of his teens.

Beattie - for the sum involved and his subsequent barrage balloon impression
Van der Meyde - so hyped, graduated from the hardest academy in the world, complete letdown!
Kroldrup - Supposed to be the dog's balzac.... he was just balzac. Even an 11-year old John Stones would have done better!

Man, 2005 was such a pants year for signings!

Lucky we rarely had too many of these players. I loved Kone last year. I still think he'll come good though. Even when he's not scoring he's pretty good at holding it up in for the midfield and making plays.

I agree with many of the people on here, but for me the biggest let down was Tony Grant. He came through the youth system, which I used to follow quite closely and was built up to be the next big thing and never quite made it.

I suppose you could argue that it was mainly down to injuries (he played 61 games in 6 years), it was just the fact that every time he came back from injury people would say "this is his chance now, he's gonna be great". Until it got to the point where he was so broken we were sending him on loan to Tranmere

Grant had talent but never fulfilled his potential (like Cadmarteri). One of my classmate was Grant's cousin but I had lost contact with him long time ago.
