Gylfi on Champions League aspirations:

‘‘Of course thats the objective, the dream if you like. The club, the supporters and the players are all looking into that direction. Of course it‘s very difficult to break into the top 4. It‘s every footballers dream to play in the Champions League but it could take couple of years to get there,“ said Gylfi.

‘‘There were some CL clubs interested but I wasnt interested. I dont want to play in the Champions League just for the sake of it, the club has to have merits and compete.“

interesting, you'd expect clubs in poorer leagues, but how many like that would have been able to afford his fee.

Oh ffs.

I have only just got used to a False 9 and a Number 10.

Two 8's now.

Another bit of the interview with Gylfi:

Gylfi on the Twitter photo:

The photo was taken during one of his two trials at the club at the start of the century.

‘‘I went twice on trial at Everton when I was younger. It‘s probably been 14 years but 14 years later I finally earned a contract with Everton,“ he said.

‘‘The coaches were happy with my performance during my first stint and invited me back. In the meantime the whole setup in the youth department went through wholesome changes. I did travel with the Everton youth team to Germany but it was obvious from the start that the new coaches had no interest in me whatsoever. So sadly it ended there. It‘s great to be here finally now. I am thrilled and feel very proud today. It‘s hard not to be when joining a club with the stature of Everton.“

right, let's find out who's fault this was originally.

So from what he's saying it appears it was Swansea who were acting the maggot delaying the deal and not us.

True pro

Despite the player taking no part in Swansea's pre-season tour, he continued to train alongside the team upon their return; a scenario the head coach acknowledges was not ideal but proves his professionalism as a footballer.

"It was probably more awkward for him than me when he came back and trained with us," Clement said.

"He continued to train with us and he was one of the hardest working players in the group, even during that period.

"It is disappointing, but we were realistic that a club investing who are above us means you can lose them."
