Well, you do have the two provences of North Holland (capital Amsterdam) and South Holland (capital Rotterdam) and you're right, technically the name should be The Netherlands, but we Dutch mostly refer to our country as Holland tbh. If I'm abroad and anyone asks me from which country I am, I almost never say The Netherlands.
