Aye Celtic made £70mil from merchandise sales last year if I'm not mistaken only Man utd made more than us (only comparing Scottish and English teams) kind of shows you the size of us Also if England took our league more seriously they could quite easily make a lot of money through it. Likes of Armstrong going to Southampton for 7m is a steal considering how much maddison went for and how much that cairney from Fulham is valued at. I don't mind the digs at our league etc, it's not Celtics fault and everyone knows if we somehow made it into the premier league with their teams we'd outshine most teams withing a decade. Celtic are a PLC and have to live within out means, or we'd end up burst and dead like Rangers. Do any of the English teams even make profit year in year out like we do?
Tbh mate if Celtic came to the premier league and tried to use the business model that you have now. You'd do nothing but get relagated season after season. It's no surprise the biggest and best teams in England spend the most money and have the biggest wage bill's.
The standard of your team is championship at best if we're being honest. It's only the absolute best of the best of the SPL that get a move to the premier league and the vast majority is to a mid to lower league team.
I've no doubt that over time that Celtic would have a chance at being a top 4 competing side because of your support but there's more to it then that in the premier league. One loss in this league could be devastating or one win could mean everything. We've seen over the last few season both 4th place and relagation spots be decided on the last day.
The english premier league is the richest leauge in the world because its the best leauge in the world and it's the best leauge in the world because its the most ruthless leauge in the world. Your levels only have to drop a few % and the other team will have you. Then when momentum turns on you it's hard to get it back on your side. 9/10 it takes the manager getting sacked. Then all's it takes is the wrong manager coming in and your relagated WBA, Swansea and stoke happened to them all last season.
You might have one of the best supports in the UK while your winning but how will that support be if you ended up bouncing around the championship for a few seasons? Not winning everything every year? I doubt it'd be as strong then.
Of course if it went the other way and you got of to a flyer. I've no doubt you could compete and your support base would be a fantastic help. I just remember when QPR was technically the richest team in England and couldn't get out of the championship.
