Player Valuation: £35m
so i didn't go through it for every player in the squad, but i ball-parked it for most, and you're not going to believe this. If someone suspects i'm wrong, feel free to correct me:

In games that Tony Hibbert has played in, we've won 10 out of 19 games, our only losses were from Standard Liege, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United, with the remaining 5 games being draws. Jack Rodwell, oddly enough, has the exact same statistic of 10 wins, 5 draws 4 losses for us.

So what do you think, is this a coincidence that i'm pathetic for even bringing up, or could these players be even more important to our team than we give them credit for?

Everton have never lost a game in which Baines has scored in. Thats more impressive. But i would hardly call 10 in 19 impressive. I mean the team as a whole has been beaten twice in 16? games.

Pompey! hasnt he only scored once for us!

right but thats excluding a whole chunk of the season where we weren't very good, and granted hibbert missed part of that which may skew his statistic, but it seems we've only lost games against top 4 teams (and Liege) with him playing, i don't think that should be ignored.

this statistic doesn't exclude any inconvenient factors like yours does, but winning more than half our games with him in and losing only in games against top teams seems like a good track record. who knows it might be a sort of inverse effect, players see hibbert and don't feel they can depend on him, so they work twice as hard:D

Erm we lost to Portsmouth when Baines scored  It was only a fortnight ago though so forgive you for forgetting :P

We lose every time he scores? He's a liability - off to Sunderland with him..

Politicians (and others) use statistics the same way drunks use lamp-posts.
Not for illumination, but to support an argument which would otherwise collapse.
