Every time we fail to win there it gets me thinking about how other fans must feel playing away against their 'superior' neighbours and wondered how their derby record compared with ours. When looking in to this I only wanted to compare actual city rivals, and only clubs who play in a derby against a team that has excelled in European Football.

I've chosen any side on here with 3 or more significant European trophy wins, that play in a same city derby. The only exceptions being Arsenal who are deemed the bigger of the 2 North London Clubs but have won less European trophies than Spurs, and I also added Benfica. I'm not counting Super Cups or Intertoto either:

League matches played away since last win at Rival's ground:

Liverpool v Everton = 17
Chelsea v Fulham = 15
Dynamo Kiev v FC Arsenal Kiev = 11* (Never beaten Dynamo Kiev)
Juventus v Torino = 9
Barcelona v Espanyol = 8
Feyenoord v Sparta Rotterdam = 8
Porto v Boavista = 6
Arsenal v Tottenham= 6
AC Milan v Inter = 4
Bayern Munich v 1860 Munich = 4
Sevilla v Real Betis = 4
Benfica v Sporting CP = 1
Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid = 0
Man United v Man City= 0
Hamburg v St Pauli = 0

Only 4 other clubs won their last derby before ours in 2010/11 and the winless run in any competitive derby for them is:

Espanyol = 17
Fulham = 17
Everton = 14
1860 Munich = 9
Boavista = 9

Obviously Chelsea may not class Fulham as their biggest rivals but both Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham etc have other rivals they consider their main rival. When you look at some of the sides in there, it's staggering to think that they can go to some of the current biggest clubs in Europe and get a win, and we can't beat a side who hasn't won a title in the time we have failed to beat them.

Apologies for another depressing thread but thought some may find it interesting to see how we compare, especially given that some of those clubs are far smaller than we are and the gap between the sides in quality is far superior.

It's got to the point where I'm almost immune to it. The outcome is so obvious it's depressing. Honestly already dreading the games next year.

  • Being the miserable arl arse on the stool at the bar. By this, replies like "This is a rubbish thread" "In before the lock" "You should have posted this in another thread". An example would be the replies here. While we appreciate a self moderating community, this isn't helpful. Reply constructively, or not at all. If a thread personally offends you to the extent where you feel it's your duty to insult and patronise the Blue who started the thread, please help the moderators by reporting it. There's a hesitancy to create new threads on here and a big part of that is Blues being so quick to criticise other Blues - leave it to the moderators to determine what warrants a new thread, that's what they're p̶a̶i̶d̶ here for.

Absolute horrendous statistic.

It's like we don't even try to win. We went into that game as the form team of 2017 and just got rolled over.

I actually remember where I was n the context etc back when super kev scored the winner. Pretty sad really. Eighteen years sakes
