Them lot are about to pay £150m on a single player. We cannot compete with that.

Diminishing returns at that price point tho - he's very unlikely to be 10x better than our own Charly Alcaraz, you would have to concede, no?

They’ll never win the league again whilst the league is the way it is and fluking a cup happens but it isn’t that common. Unless (or more like when) the scabs sod off and make their own league or they go down I don’t see it personally.

Now the Kenwright era is over, I can see Everton returning to being a trophy winning club. That era was cursed.

Im talking about enjoying a season. Start g the season with nothing, and then at the end of it achieving a promotion or something.
Yes, you can quantify the relative achievement of finishing midtable in the premier league to be better team then any that win promotion lower down the league, but for for pure emotional fulfillment of going to matches and watching your team win the league lower down would be an excellent fan experience, getting your kids to enjoy something, winning match match after match.
Yo-yo clubs like Norwich probably enjoy going to the game more Everton fans. Season or two in the championship winning game, followed by a season in the premier league where they can watch the top tier talent but have to put up with losing matches at a rate just a bit worse than being an Everton the last four seasons.
The premier league is seen as some holy grail, but the emotion glory and winning anything is what brings excitement to the game.
A bet a lot of us played football at some level and enjoyed it. We never tarnished winning a trophy by saying it’s not the World Cup. Football success can be enjoyed at any level.
don’t get me wrong I have never thought I hope Everton get relegated this season, but if we had have dropped twice in the last thirty years and then come back up, we have had a couple of great seasons in the championship.
Just theoretical idea about fan experience over the last 30 years rather than stat based idea of what is better statistically for arguing who is the best club

So what with renewed media efforts to sell Jarrad Branthwaite to a proper football club that actually have a realistic chance of winning something (know your place, has-beens), when do we actually think the rebuild under The Friedkin Group might bear fruit and get us back where we once belonged?

I put 3-5 years, but I'm hoping we can qualify for europe sooner. I think a few teams in europe will struggle domestically next season.
