We are miles and miles behind the top teams on this score. Even Leicester and West Ham are more savvy. When was the last time we toured America to take advantage of that market for example?

It really isnt mate. It helps like, but its a solid GOT fact that we have attracted more posters from Australia and Merica cos of Cahill, Howard, and Sir L.
I am happy to be corrected, but as far as I am aware, Everton FC have done zero marketing in Oz or Merica on the back of those players.
Lob in *random foreign players*, and it becomes a pretty depressing critique of our "marketing" dept.
In recent weeks, there has been a lot of talk on here and by Evertonians about how the club/manager outwardly project a small club mentality i.e. not standing up for ourselves in the face of shocking VAR decisions etc.
I think it goes much further than that and definitely into the marketing and merchandising of the club itself. In my view, those running the marketing department of the club have been asleep at the wheel for quite a number of years.
I think there is so much the club can do to get new fans interested in the club and that goes well beyond the limits of the city itself.
One idea I thought of (potentially for selfish reasons that I love watching football in new places) is that Everton could link up with a different club every season whereby our season ticket holders get one ticket to a match of the other club and vice versa.
This would allow Evertonians to go and see decent football abroad (even if we arent getting it at home) and it would also bring in potential new supporters from abroad who might see one game and come back for more. In an ideal world, we would link up with clubs like Dortmund who are supposed to have an amazing atmosphere at games.
It could also create useful links that we could rely on when tracking youngsters around Europe.
I am sure there are reasons why this might not work that others could think of but similarly, I am sure others on here can come up with ideas that the club could benefit from. Any thoughts?
Maybe he'll promote us.I met an expat during commute this morning here in San Francisco as I saw he was on TW on his phone. He asked how I came to support. My entree was through following Howard/Donovan. Aside from the ICC those several years ago there has been nothing regarding marketing for Everton inNorthern California which has a tradition of supporting football. The US is a fertile market and no shortage of non glory hunter types who could be reached with even modest outreach. I’ve got Nieces/Nephews and 3 Grandsons who I would happily buy Everton swag for if it was more widely available. We’re here! Come get us!

This really is how a lot of Americans, including myself, got into Everton. And there is no shortage of non glory hunters here. It really is baffling that Everton hasn't done more to tap into this market, although to be fair making Tim Howard our ambassador, whatever that means, isn't a bad start.I met an expat during commute this morning here in San Francisco as I saw he was on TW on his phone. A club shop at Liverpool airport would be a start.
Partner up with some other clothing and gifts outlet
ThisFor visitors to our city, we exhibit near zero visible promotion.
