So as it stands we have 22.

Also, those 22 have very little balance, includes Delph who is never fit, Gbamin who hasn't played in 18 months, and literally two actual forwards even though we play 4-3-3.

A club in our position with nothing remotely approaching the concept of strength in depth should always be looking to utilise its loan quota.

Still a global market out there and still options if they were/are serious about pursuing them.

I don't get the concept of there being nobody available who might improve us/give us another option. That's Brands job.

There is a world of difference between spending over the odds in January for someone who may have been cheaper in the summer vs. looking through hundreds of players who might be available for loan and saying none of them, absolutely none could come here and do even a half decent job for a few months at least.

There must be players in that bracket when you consider its almost impossible not to do better with the players going out / not good enough.

Perisic smacks of desperation, ......I know we need a player in midfield so that we don’t have to play Siggy ever again but signing this player looks like clutching at straws. Siggy has been a passenger for years and somehow his lack of effort only becomes apparent after the Newcastle game.
We may have allowed ourselves to be put in a position where we need Perisic to get us to the end of this season but he isn’t the answer to our problem.
Having said that I like this window as we are freeing up the wage bill, however it highlights the rubbish Walsh bought as we can’t a get a fee for any of them.

It's just the threat of getting in behind.

Think James on the ball - a defence is going to be terrified of stepping up that extra 10 yards if James is running in behind on the end of a James pass, because there's every chance James causes damage because James has amazing distribution. James.

He could add Tyler Onyango but that is another midfielder of which we have plenty lol. I lower my expectations to 1 new player in today. Which must be an attacker. Anything else is a bonus

1 new player is fine, it's just that it's the same position we needed to sign in October
