Which makes zero sense - one team put money on the table us letting it be known he was for sale effects that how?Cos FSW told people he didn’t want him here?

But mate using Newcastle as a gage for market value is not valid, same as it wouldn't be to use what we've been paying for tosun, Iwobi et Al as a barometer. You just said in your above post Newcastle were in for Digne mate, therefore the same context that applies to Wood applies to Digne. Its also indictive of "market price" if an aged journey man striker scraping for relegation most seasons is worth 25 mill in the market - then a younger French International former Roma , PSG, Barca player with experience of CL etc - is worth more - i don't think that's a huge jump in logic to be honest, especially in the January limited availability market - "market forces".
To be honest i think people are trying to convince themselves this is a good or fair deal because - they are stressed and worried about us being skint and its hard to hold the anxiety of knowing we need to balance the book - just because we need money, doesn't mean we have to accept bad deals or call them out when they are. Thats the psychology pawn brokers work on.
Easy to say, hard to do.
Not exactly going to be a long line of clubs for the likes of Gbamin, Iwobi, Davies, Holgate. Maybe a couple of takers for Allan, Gomes, Keane.
Plus, they might all be perfectly content to sit pretty on their current deals and move on a free in a year or two when it best suits their interest.
I find it odd when I keep reading that we needed sell xy and z player this window. We've been trying to move most of them for ages, with no luck. Why would this month be any different.
If we move players this window they will probably be players who are amongst our few good ones.
I am happy to be educated, but no one can show me one shred of evidence other than gossip to backup these claims. I mean, not one single manager or DOF has said anything despite it ultimately costing their jobs if it was true
Maybe but I doubt it mate, I just think the real elite clubs would see him as a squad player and thsts why Chelsea didn't botherTeams knew they could get a good deal because there was no way we wanted to keep the player. It was an ok deal for us still in the end, but I do think we could have got slightly more under different circumstances.
Are you feeling alright ?Ok enough about incoming players.
Lets talk about the players that need to go to the choppa. CHOP CHOP TIME!!
CHOPCHOP Pickford and your [Poor language removed] hysterics. Its you that gives our defence the shits. [Poor language removed] off

Theres is loads of other examples of managers doing this as I linked earlier...shrugsWe can move those players on. Imaginative structured deals where we pay a % of wages / lowered fees etc.
Do you think someone who would almost certainly have signed an NDA would break it to go to the press?
When you call it 'gossip' it isnt really is it? Its persons with track records of getting things right commenting on things which seem almost certainly true.
We can’t move them on if they don’t want to go. There becomes a point when you have to say, if we pay that much of X player’s wages, in order to get another club to take him on loan, we can’t afford to pay the wages of the player we bring in to replace them. I’m not talking ffp or whatever it’s premier league counter part is , I’m talking simple profit and loss.We can move those players on. Imaginative structured deals where we pay a % of wages / lowered fees etc.

Digne is 28, been out of form for 18 months, thinking especially at this time with zero resale he's worth 30m+ is imo just deluded.
Especially when you factor in his wages on top of a fee for any buying club.
Agreed. In normal circumstances he is worth £30m but FSW devalued him.Its absolutely a gauge, you said yourself they were interested din him, its not arbitory, they were an interested party, so its relevant, in terms of the market of the deal.
28 is very young, his contract expired in June 25 - so he had 3 and half years to run on his deal - we had all the aces and valued him the same as Chris Wood. Clearly about 17 mill on the deal, loosing one of our best players.
We save a wage, but have taken on two, we however take on higher ammostidation costs annually for P/S /FFP regulations so not great.
Ive no doubt if he hadn't been publicly ridiculed by the manager and we hadn't told the world we wanted rid and didn't look desperate to do it - we would have gotten 30-35 million, top full back in this league go for that, and he is one.
It was a poor deal and we are worse of for it.

As for gossip, a few hours ago on here it was gospel that Mosh had signed Ghazi, now it seems it was part of the digne deal.....shrugs
Have you just got up btw?

It’s easy to lose sight of the fact that it may well not solely be a matter of financial regulations that stop us spending. It may well be that the owner/owners have decided that the club is too big a drain on him/them and that the football side of the business has to start financing itself.
I think it is quite possible that, from here on in, the only significant investment by the owner/owners will be in the new stadium. I truly believe that the plan is for the playing side to be debt free when we move ground, making it easier to sell on.
thank the gods, Dave's going to be distraught though lol

But nobody thinks that Wood was worth that, including the people who paid it for him. It was done with the not-so-subtle intention of damaging their biggest rivals for survival, and if you have seen the reports around that apparently Dyche is going apoplectic at the deal then it appears to have worked. If Newcastle survive this season at Burnley's expense then their devious little plan will pay back ten-fold. You can't hold that deal parallel to others and claim it is indicative to the market because it isn't.
At the end of the day somebody is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay. No club dramatically better than Everton wanted Digne permanently, so the types of clubs that were lining up for him weren't particularly enticing which will affect the players price somewhat, as clubs who do not have Champions League ambitions (which Villa don't in the short term) are unlikely to pay the kind of money that bona-fide CL sides pay out, especially on a left back no less (Transfermarkt apparently claim it is the sixth highest fee ever paid out for a left back, which doesn't seem so bad).
We could Zat, but, if we get shut of 8, who will, no doubt, be on stupidly high wages, by the time we have paid most the wages and brought in the 4 replacements and the paid their wages, I just don’t think it makes financial sense. It may well be possible under financial regulations, but, still not make fiscal sense to the person/people who matter.DOF i meant...as in Brands or Walsh unleashing hell. There will be NDAs in place.
Soon going to sleep...
Weve got a large squad. We could sell 8 players and replace with 4.
