We did get unlucky with that one, Gbamin was meant to be the boy wasn’t he. Would be a miracle if Frank managed to turn him into a midfielder.

Also his style made Gomes look so much better that first season. It was like having 2 players in 1 for Gana. He is one of the few midfielders who mean you could effectively play a 2 in midfield.

I rated Gbamin at Mainz and the injury finished him, but he was a different kind of player. That was always going to be problematic if our other CM was Gomes. It was a disaster waiting to happen. If we were signing Gbamin we should not have signed Gomes permanently too. Poor planning really.
