Godfrey was good last season though.
He's not been great this season. Form - that's on him, as are mistakes. Other factors, COVID absolutely goosing him for 3 months, and suddenly all of our defenders and in fact entire team look worse when trying to defend under the absolute clown we have as a manager.
Basically yeah.
Tbf to Benitez here I don't think he hated every player Brands' team scouted.
Clearly with Mykolenko there was a bit of forward planning and it's fine, it's a good thing. What isn't a good thing is how the Digne situation has been handled.
Having Mykolenko to bed in for 6 months alongside Digne is absolutely the right thing to have done. Instead it's ostracise one player and lump a load of pressure on the new lad.
Godfrey was massively hot and cold last season. I still haven’t got over his attempt to play offside against Sheff Utd at home. He has a long way to go to be a Premier League centre back imo.

I wouldn’t worry too much as Benitez won’t put him in anyway.
Yeah his positioning was poor but we saw obvious progress by and large I think. Almost like players can actually improve if they're coached right - and I don't think Ancelotti was a particularly hands on coach but he could definitely organise a defence.
We don't play with any compactness or shape. Or centre-backs are consistently dragged wide, or caught out by simple long passes. There's a famous phrase (round here like) an old rugby coach at Wakefield Trinity once used in training: "spread out in a bunch, lads"
I honestly think that's the way Everton try and keep shape. And that then exposes players' flaws. Whereas the entire point of a system, unless you have perfect players, which few teams do, is to cover flaws and play to players' strengths, while working on those flaws in training to improve them as players.

If we get £25m. We've told the world and his dog we're desperate to get rid, it doesn't put you in a strong negotiating position.
These young full backs are very much needed, and are the sort of signings we should've been making for years, but there are no guarantees with players from the Ukrainian and Scottish leagues. We all hope they're great but they're going to need time and may not be as good as expectations.
We are in trouble, maybe this is the type of risk we need to take to get out of it, but it is a risk nonetheless.

I know everyone is rightly sick of Utd castoffs but if Pickford and DCL/Richarlison were sold I would be backing up the bus to get Henderson and Greenwood in. Calming presence in net and a very good keeper we could immediately give 1st team to and a VERY good young talent. Think Greenwood has the world in front of him, can score with either foot very very easily.

I doubt he would too but he's one of those players that need to play. If they're constantly bringing in someone in his place he may want to move on somewhere. Proximity to home being a good thing for once for us?
Would love either of them to come in. But, would Greenwood seriously come to us ? In our current state of affairs that is

People just make things up to suit their own agenda for or against this or that player or coach. Not worth sweating it mate.
Again, I doubt he would but if we had an opening and could virtually guarantee playing time for him, why not?
And, yes, I know that's a pipe dream, better chance of snogging Jennifer Lawrence.
