All those who were saying Roberto couldn't defend or even buy a decent defender, what do you think now? Do you think this is just a fluke based on the fact that some kids have played out of their skins or do you think he has cracked it? He has undoubtedly benefited from some of Moyses signings at the back, but I get the feeling he has sorted himself out defensively now! We play out from the back when the opportunity is there and sky it when it isn't which is the way we should defend in my opinion!

I think Galloway makes the back four stronger.

Certainly better than Baines defensively. The days of a full back being an out and out defender are over though. Well, I say that, but it can offer a bit of balance having one attacking full-back and one who is more defensive.

Imagine a Baines-Galloway hybrid though.....

Bizarrely, I think we're more solid with Browning and Galloway at full back. Their extra height, and strength compared to Baines and Coleman comes in handy. They're less likely to both be bombing forward as well, so we're defending more as a unit which means there's less pressure on Barry and McCarthy.

What we gain in defence we lose in attack though.

In his first season Martinez played with a very high line which seemed to work most of the time and allowed us to get tight and recapture possession quickly. We seemed to eschew this approach last season and I couldn't tell you what the plan was as we were all over the shop most of the time. This year we seem better drilled and are getting back quicker and dropping deep and only occasionally pressing high. I think we're more geared for the counter but the swamping of our defensive third is making us harder to play through also.

I'm not a fan of pushing a very high line, with some of the Premier League teams with quick forwards you stand no chance as they can ping balls into the area behind and run onto it, then your defenders are playing catch up and facing their own goal.
