Everton and VAR

Var is the worst thing to happen to football in my lifetime. I never wanted it. But I never imagined it could be this bad.
I wanted it because I saw the potential from sports like cricket and rugby. However, the ineptitude of this system is beyond farcical and I'd happily scrap it.

It's sucking the game dry, and while statistically the number of correct decisions may be increasing it's at the expense of the fans and the flow of the game.

Who wants minuscule observations of offside decisions where players (including those coming back onside) are penalised and goals are disallowed?

Additionally, we're not actually getting the correct accuracy of decisions with regards to handballs or fouls, so I have no idea how they can feel it's a success.

We seem to be the only country not making use of the pitch side monitors and by sheer coincidence we no longer have refs at major tournaments anymore.

They really are up there own bottoms aren’t they !
There is no other logical reason for why the monitors are not being unless the PGMOL are clearly stating to their members, the referees, not to use them.

Why? They're protecting their own, their glorious interpretation of the system and ensuring more referees are getting a top salary in their protected employment.

I genuinelly can't think of a weekend where there has been a multitude of decisions that are more than questionable, let alone one decision a weeek.

Our players were too subdue. They should be all over the ref and at least press him to go have a look at replay.

we have ourselves to blame for not being vocal enough.
Ancelotti said less than Maguire and De Gea and gets sent off.

My take is that Sigurdsson is on his arse as a result of being taken out. Not usually a pen as he got a shot off. But if you are going back to him being offside it's a foul that has put him there so we should have had a pen if they are disallowing the goal.

Let's face it, if we were playing anyone other than the media favourites (Utd, RS, Chelsea etc) we are getting the goal.

Trying to stay positive as Carlo is getting a lot out of these players and will have a chance to make his mark on the squad in the summer. If we don't m Europe because of our poor start, I remind myself that a slightly better start means Silva is still manager.

Worse than that mate, clubs will be relegated as result of the misuse of VAR.

The thing is, it’s not hard to fix, they’ve just so backed themselves into a corner over how they’ve decided to use it and it’s all about saving face now.

Every single weekend there’s something like this happens, so it’s not a one off.
You are right its a balls up.

But tbh i'm not arsed about any others , Brighton , Spurs & Today has cost us 7 ,8,9 points ( that puts us in with a massive chance for Europa & Champions lge)

As I said today
If thats Mane & Salah instead of Siggy & Dom ....thats a goal , if not its a pen.

VAR isnt just a shambles its Bent.

But the moment has gone once he's referred it. He can't call it back then. Whilst our players were, not unreasonably, celebrating a last minute winner Maguire and De Gea are straight at the ref telling him to refer it.

Even if they hadn't the VAR would have looked at it anyway.

Also, has a ref ever changed their mind because they were getting barracked by players?

the ref gave it at first, the linesman must have said siggy was offside but not sure if he touched the ball. Everything was decided in the video room while everyone on the pitch waits.
The key was referee decided not to review the goal replay. If our players press him hard enough, he might have review it and reverse it.
If our players choose to be subdue in such a crucial time, we probably don’t deserve anything.

Get rid. It's effectively ruined this season.
It’s absolutely terrible, and what’s even worse is they let the already incompetent refs give the final decisions on it. They already hid away from their bad mistakes now they can do it from 300 Miles away

Tbf they were off celebrating the ‘goal’

Ignore what their official line in, there have been zero cases where an official in PL game has uses the pitch-side monitor; there has been ONE in an FA-Cup Game.

Our players would have been booked or sent off for dissent before the official would check the monitor and the players and referees know that, unfortunately.

Their first instinct is to celebrate a goal.
