I wanted it because I saw the potential from sports like cricket and rugby. However, the ineptitude of this system is beyond farcical and I'd happily scrap it.Var is the worst thing to happen to football in my lifetime. I never wanted it. But I never imagined it could be this bad.
It's sucking the game dry, and while statistically the number of correct decisions may be increasing it's at the expense of the fans and the flow of the game.
Who wants minuscule observations of offside decisions where players (including those coming back onside) are penalised and goals are disallowed?
Additionally, we're not actually getting the correct accuracy of decisions with regards to handballs or fouls, so I have no idea how they can feel it's a success.
There is no other logical reason for why the monitors are not being unless the PGMOL are clearly stating to their members, the referees, not to use them.We seem to be the only country not making use of the pitch side monitors and by sheer coincidence we no longer have refs at major tournaments anymore.
They really are up there own bottoms aren’t they !
Why? They're protecting their own, their glorious interpretation of the system and ensuring more referees are getting a top salary in their protected employment.
I genuinelly can't think of a weekend where there has been a multitude of decisions that are more than questionable, let alone one decision a weeek.
