Everton and Martinez are to blame should Lukaku leave

BTW, that ^^^ has triggered about 20 PMs to my inbox saying it was spot on.

The general tone seems to be that it's a joke that anything now becomes cause for an attack on the manager. I half expect him to be blamed for the Port Talbot steel works closure.
Well they, much like Martinez' teams must lack Charachter, if they can't show up on here.

Highest points total in the PL and taking us to within two wins of our first trophy for 21 years would seem to suggest otherwise.

But on the squad: I think it's clear from your posts thus far that you believe that, not only is Martinez incapable of using it as it stands to obtain a CL spot, but any incoming manager would also struggle to secure a CL spot with it - hence the need for more purchases.

So there's a couple of things to emerge this week regarding your position:

1/ The failure to demonstrate why Martinez should be judged more harshly than previous Everton managers (poorer Everton managers one and all as measured by PL points performance and career win rate at the club) that he must walk the plank which no one else had to walk

and (relatedly)

2/ That the squad (the one you believe to be beyond question of such a quality that it amounts to a sackable offence not to utilise to gain a CL spot) is not going to be good enough after all to secure a CL place under the hypothetical new coach, who is to be superior to Martinez.

Keep going David, almost there.

@davek i'm not sure if Elliot picket the right choice of words there to say the least.

Outgrown us?

Really?

I hadn't realised that Lukaku suddenly had become bigger than Everton in the space of 6 months.
It's embarrassing how many things are being thrown at this manager. My toes are curling seeing some of the line of attacks - fro the same people who were hailing him opening the school of science. Shameful.

I put it down to frustration that an echo chamber has been formed but a realisation it effects nothing.

It is very embarrassing.

Considering.

I reckon @davek is lost from the wrestling thread and trying to gain 'major heat' by using football to wind people up ;) i love his loyalty though, if only players had the same....
That's all it is too mate. Loyalty. That part's easy too because, no matter all the guff and wave of propaganda, the figures dont back up the naysayers one bit if they're argument is one for dismissal. Frustration? Yes, no problem with that. Dismissal, though, is just pure entitlement from a group of people who think we dont have to put the hard yards in and can now get Mourinho and throw £200M at it.

Sorry, but that ISN'T where this club is at. And it wont be in the near future. So, best just get behind the manager and team...who knows, it could even help win a trophy next month. The alternative? continue with the wind and piss that gets us nowhere.

Don't read it then.

The improvement this season has come from the level of performance going forward and the extended cup runs. And we've improved in our away PL form.

We've improved in our attacking play massively. No question. We've improved in our ability to play KO encounters - and the LC and FA Cup SF slots underline that.

We've been atrocious in home league form. To just flatly say there's 'no improvement' is too crude to encompass the whole season.
We got 30 points away in our first season, we've got 22 points this season, let's see where we are at the end of the season when we've played the last 6 away games.

  • Lukaku is here because of one reason: Martinez fought tooth and nail for him and gambled a whole summer transfer money on him
  • Lukaku scores as many goals as he does for one reason: Martinez builds the team around getting the ball to him
  • Lukaku has gone from strength for one reason: Martinez has shown great faith in him and built his confidence that he could be the best and coached that into him
  • If Lukaku goes to Bayern Munich or Madrid or another European juggernaut it wont be because Everton didn't get a CL play off spot, it'll be because he wants to win a Champions League itself.
Inconvenient facts.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

We have one of the best strikers in Europe and your messiah has us 12th. Inconvenient fact for you right there.

David K has been properly used as a doormat in this thread. It's quite a shame to see actually. Entertaining nonetheless
