McNeil and Barry dropped is something but that's a predictably conservative line up.
He's obsessed with having his wide players tuck in and do donkey work for the team - that's why his wingers were central players shunted wide in Osman, Arteta and Pienaar.

Difference was, that for the most part, we had proper full backs who tried to get up the pitch. It does my head in that he has persevered with the tucked widemen when he has ultra defensive FBs. It makes him appear totally amateur- not an extremely experienced coach.

Yep, it's frustrating but we all knew that if he dropped McNeil that it wouldn't be George or Dibling coming in. I thought it was going to be Armstrong for the same reason you described but it was Rohl.

Yep, no doubt about it, but it’s better than being a relegation dogfight and looking at the points total that will go down this season we should be thankful.

You’re right in what you’re saying in your post, but that’s a result of years of mismanagement, anyone with any real knowledge of football knows that teams don’t go from years if relegation fights to Europe overnight, it simply doesn’t happen.
Villa? Forrest? Crystal Palace? Bournmouth, Newcastle....yeah it can happen. All of them relegated in recent years, all won something, made Europe or on the cusp in recent years...it can happen.

Years of relegation battles? Didn’t they get promoted 3 years ago? They’re also below us despite having a better squad.
We had two, maybe three years of relegation battles...since then, new stadium, new owners....ffs stop being so effing negative. It is ok to want more, it is supposed to be entertainment!

I remember Dyche used to play the out of favour ‘younger’ players against the big teams so he could say ‘I told you so’ when we inevitably lost. Hope Moyes proves me wrong and we win but not liking how similar this feels
I like the line up but I agree. I don't think these are changes made to try and win the game.
