It's not over till it's over. Can still finish above Liverpool.

We wont, but it's nice to dream

Had to catch the game after lunch here stateside. I thought Bily had a superb chance early on. Arteta's legend of all around bad-assery continues with that cooler than the other side of the pillow penalty kick at the end of injury time. Hibbert played very well today. Great effort. I think it was one heck of a match, and am glad we won. That is some of the most nerve wracking, nail biting sport I have ever seen. It just sunk the hook in deeper. I saw a hell of a lot of empty seats. Was the crowd lacking today? To hell with Liverpool, they still have the time and the capacity to properly [Poor language removed] themselves and lose points. I'm gonna have faith til the last minute of injury time ticks off the clock. After today's miracle, any freaking thing can happen. Onward and Upward.

Or the rs draws against [Poor language removed] teams gave us a sniff we shouldn't otherwise of had.

Or wins against Man U and Chelsea gave us hope of a challenge for Europe when we would normally of lost those games.

And what does bottled it even mean? Its a ridiculous phrase which gets thrown around whenever we don't win a match.

We've no devine right to win any game and when we don't its always apparently cause we bottled it.

Bollocks.

You don't beat Man U and Chelsea in consecutive games then bottle it against Wolves.

We weren't good enough on the day to get the job done in those games we drew.

We weren't good enough. Nothing to do with bottle.

We struggle to beat teams who defend deep and as a unit. Because we lack that extra quality in the final 3rd many times.

Got nothing to do with bottle.

Maybe Moyes isn't adventurous enough to really go for a win sometimes but in those drawn games its not like we just sat on our arses keeping it tight hoping to nick a goal like the oppisition did.

We went for it but a combination of errors (which happen to the best of us), great goals, bad luck and most importantly lack of a true quality player on the day to unlock the door and get us that winning goal. And defensively we still aren't as solid at the back as we would like to be.

Bottle my arse.

is that a request or a statement ?:D
ok , bottled might seem too strong a word but you get what i mean ?
(as in darts , if i miss a double out shot and the next fella gets his , yes its down to individual skill/error but i still bottled it.)

like ....you say we havent got the quality to get us a winning goal , but we had good enough quality to beat man utd and chelsea didnt we ? so thats a bit of a contradiction .
imo its 'killing a team off' or 'shutting up shop' that we have lacked when called upon.

those 2 results against the title contenders must strongly imply we must also have had enough quality to win all the 3 games i mentioned doesnt it ?
in fact we were in a position to get 3 points in all those games, but we got nervy and gave away our lead.(~thats what bottled means)

you also say we struggle to score against teams who defend deep as a unit and becouse we lack quality in the final 3rd.
but against brum wolves and west ham we scored in each game. so the problem wasnt the opposing team defending as a unit or the lack quality in our final 3rd, the problem was at the other end in our box.(in fact we have made a very small amounts of mistakes this year but unfortunatly been punished for most of them.....baines goal today was a perfect example - he does 1 thing wrong all game and it lead to there goal , cruel.)

im not being cynical in my original statement or getting on anyones back or taking anything away from the team.
im just saying theres more to our final season position than just very bad injurys at the start.we had players back and didnt get the results expected in some games (and like you state we got results in some games we weren't expected to get a result in - thats football)

i just think the injurys were very very bad , but we came fighting back to a good postion during the start to the year . then in those 3 games against west ham , wolves , brum (which were 3 of the lesser standard matches ),we didnt get the result we perhaps should/could have got .
if we held our nerve while we were infront in those matches we would be 6 points better off now and around 4th.(i think the goals in those results also shows its 'not' down to moyes so called 'lack of attack' tactics)

A Yanks view......Your team gives me heart palpitations, and I do not have a heart problem, only an Everton problem. It started with LD coming over and then with him being an excepted player, and then part of the team. It continued with the wins over teams that were at the top and then the lows against teams that we were expected to beat. Today was, not the worst, since we won, but what a shabby way to win. Should have been a better score, but it seemed in the few minutes that I caught the game, that Everton should have had this outcome anyway. BUT, is this what I should expect in the future? These highs and lows? God, I will stay here at Everton, but I never thought pulling for a team would be so difficult.

Have to say, though, reading your posts and threads makes me feel a part of a great team, but a team that is'nt quite there yet. I will admit that I never searched EPL teams. EVER, until, Everton, and then, I find myself doing that all the time. I guess I have been selected as one of those souls that will cheer on Everton, and will weirdly live on a high over here, in Boca land, when they win, and brood a bit and wonder why they lost. It is a strange thing to follow a team in England that I really have no ties to and yet feel so strongly about. You have caputured me.

BTW who is Baxter?

A young player who mostly plays in the reserve squad that has gotten a few caps in the first team. Someone else can probably tell you more but that is the overview of him.

Just reading a report on the game and had to have a little chuckle to myself when I read that Chris Baird (who gave away the penalty) was the only surviving outfield player from Fulham's game in Hamburg, and he only played because he couldn't play in the return match. I bet Roy Hodgson is now wishing he'd dropped him too! :(

Bily almost scored with a magnificent volley that hit the post in the first five minutes. He's played about 50 odd games with the Russian season ending late and then joining Everton. So yeah he's dead unfit. Next season you'll be licking his arse when he blossoms after the summer break.

****s sake, some supporter of our team you are.
Dont judge me as a supporter you dont know me i could say the same about you cos your opinion is different to mine but whats the point you obviously are our number 1 fan.
I hope bily does make it but he is so slow and the premiership is so quick he will need to up his game greatly

Best player on the pitch - Tony Hibbert. Superb in the tackle, passed the ball well, attacked well, made some great runs into the box. I was delighted to see the lad really give Moyes a problem at right back. Well in Hibbo lad.

BTW, anyone else see Andy Nicholls in The Elm today? I thought it was him, but for obvious reasons wasn't going to march over their to ask.

Can't agree more but won't you burn in hell for saying that? Aren't we supposed to blame him even if he was our best player or am I on the wrong site.

fair enough. try and give bily some slack, he's had a long season - and even the best of players take a season to integrate into the premierships speed. Don't want to see the boo boys getting on his back, he'll be a fine player next year with our support.

I hope he will be and i hear what you are saying but i just cant see him adapting to the pace when he has no pace whatsoever.
I am not the sort who boo our own players that is no help to anyone but i do trust moysie and know he will do what is needed to get it right
