Can the team show character and determination and win this game? Much of what happens throughout the season will come from this game.

We need to win this otherwise it starts to get quite tricky for us. 3 points or less from Villa, West Ham, and Palace when the first two were in complete turmoil is not a great return especially when losing the away game in between.

I agree. It's obviously not a crisis compared to previous years and 1 point from first 5 games starts but considering the feel good factor from Brighton and Wolves no wins from Villa, West Ham and Palace would be very disappointing imo.

In October it is Man. City without Grealish, Spurs and then in form Sunderland away so dropping below a point per game would be not good at all.

Palace had a ridiculous last six months but let's remember in recent times Lampard has beaten them from 2-0 down in a critical game (then beat them 3-0 a few months later), Dyche never had any trouble whatsoever getting results against them and Moyes got a win down there three days after all that energy spent in the final derby at Goodison.

Palace are a really well coached team with incredible momentum currently but for some reason their style dosen't really work against this group of Everton players so imo that will play into both team's mind before kick off. Palace also are playing tomorrow night and won't change their team hugely.

It is a bit similar to going down to Brighton each year and getting a good result regardless of the respective form, sometimes you just get these match ups so am more confident than I should be after the last half hour on Monday which was disappointing.

Sad when home games against West Ham and Crystal Palace are not seen as games we should be winning.

Basically makes it over half of the division where we are no longer expected to win our home fixture: Arsenal, Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton, Chelsea, Palace, Liverpool, United, City, Newcastle, Forest, Spurs — all fixtures where fans would either be delighted or begrudgingly accept a point before kickoff. Tbf can probably add Brentford and Fulham to that.

Still, this ought to be 'winnable', but nobody should or would be surprised if they turned us over two or three nil.

1-0 to us or 2-0 to them, this ends. Likely some ridiculous VAR assist somewhere.
