Niasse objectively the worst player IMO, and was big money at the time (think in the top five most expensive signing for us at the time). OTOH he was an unknown quantity so there was at least a possibility of an upside, even if it was an absolutely clownish gamble.

The Bolassie, though, my God. No gamble at all there. 100% proven championship / low level prem player that couldnt possibly improve us, yet we paid 28mill or whatever it was.

Iwobi.
Arsenal must have thought they were dreaming when we rolled up and presented them 25(?) million pounds for him.

Toshun by a mile

Atleast Siggurdsson scored 14 goals one season from midfield.

Bolasie coming in at a close 2nd with Gylfi 3rd

It's Gylfi Sigurdsson.

When you factor in his price tag, the role he was brought in to do, how far his failure to do any sort of job for us set us back... there's no other correct answer. All of the rest play in roles you don't build a side around. They didn't have anywhere near the same detrimental impact.

He's in his own stratosphere when it comes to bad signings. None of the others come close.

If it's just down to bad attitude, then maybe Ashley Williams. Was ok first season (late winner against Arsenal etc) but a total tool in his second. One of the worst things about the awful 2017/18 season.

If you're going off attitude Delph is up there - its his transfer fee that saves him as I've never known a player to be injured as much as him coupled with his bad attitude.
