Transfer Rumour Evan Ferguson

….i’m a big believer in ‘acceptance criteria’ being reached before agreeing acquisitions and that includes a bad injury record. For example, investing in Delph (even on a free) was ridiculous given his age and hamstring issues. We could actually list our ‘acceptance criteria’ for our recruiters.

Much depends on the injury and I commented earlier that Ferguson appears to be suffering from ankle/foot injury which in normal circumstances would be recoverable from but you’d want a stringent medical.

Regardless, reports suggest he’s wanting to join West Ham over us so it’s looking like a closed discussion anyway.

The reports are pretty much from media that treats west ham like an attractive big club mate they always have done too.

So if it's a no from Ferguson have we even been linked to any other striker? Was a report about the forest guy but nothing since and he seems to be injured

Ankle injuries not necessarily serious but if he doesn't look after himself properly it's a different matter. Look at Duncan Ferguson, didn't look after his body when he was young and became permanently crocked for the rest of his career.

Green Party if he wants my personal approval.
Can't see him coming anyway.
If he goes to west ham obviously he is a tory.
His injury record and the cost , plus rumours of his off field stuff.
For the money he would be a massive gamble for us.
Looked great a few seasons a go and if you could get him playing at that level it would be worth it.
But it's a big if.

Mad these players and managers heading to West Ham, each to their own but I'm not sure I could see a less attractive club in the prem. Playing that soulless bowl as it crumbles.
Seen something about the entire top level of the stadium was only built as a temporary thing, and in a few years time it will have to be completely rebuilt at a huge cost, that'll be west ham waving goodbye to any temporary good times

It's not about having little money it's about restricted room to spend in January moreso.

If we indeed have minutes funds due to not being backed by TFG then frankly we are screwed anyways as the squad needs a minimum of 150m invested over next 18 months
Agreed we are going to need major investments but were we are now and what we now need in the next 3 days its a major gamble to buy a player that ends up out for the next 6 weeks and we rely on Beto to score us to safety just hoping the 2 wins haven't given some of us a false dawn about not going down

I’m not suggesting we are getting anyone for a fraction of £40m.

But spending £40m on a player that got 6 goals last season across 4 games and he failed to oust a 34 year old Danny welbeck doesn’t strike me as this top class talent everyone is making out he is. I mean comparing him to Alan shearer? No wonder so many young players fail to make the grade.

He may turn out to be fantastic, but there’s a big question mark about that.
It's Catch 22, any player without a question mark against them are either too expensive and/or wouldn't dream of joining us. So the only players we can sign have a huge question mark against them for some reason. I think there is a smaller question mark for Ferguson because there is a good body of evidence that he has the talent to be a huge success at this level. I'd sooner take a risk on attitude (which can improve with age, environment and management) over talent (which can't be improved).
