I wouldn't exactly say Mourinho is literally a grumpy old man either. I used pretty and young and grumpy and old to higlight the emotional effect of the image. It wasn't a literal description.

I think I get it now: we've been reading @Adversus literally all this time when really we should be reading him metaphorically. So when he writes "demonstrable fact" it's actually a metaphor for the failings of the education system in his area. "Yarmolenko" isn't the Slavic wing-trickster but rather the essence of a human desire for progress in the face of adversity (!). The term "number ten" is actually, just like the Whale in Moby Dick, a metaphor for both God and the devil, of the unconscious desire for meaning to sate the fear of biological finitude and the eternal blackness beyond.
