WHAT IS THE RATIONALE BEHIND AWARDING TEAMS FOR INTERCEPTING INSTEAD OF TACKLING

I'm totally ok with Wigan being in Europe next season- really I am.
They made it to the Final of the FA Cup and against CL opposition that's what happens. I'm upset that it was at our expense, but that's their prize.
Swansea won the league cup to get their slot, and that I can accept too, should have taken that match vs Leeds more seriously.
Hopefully hopefully hopefully we can finish at least 5th and get into Europe for doing so well over 38 games, but if we don't then you know what, it's only down to there being another team who had done better than us over the same period.

BUT FAIR PLAY???? What?! How?! Why?? Have we been particularly badly behaved this year?? Does Fellaini's headbutt on The Inbreeding Posterchild mean that Luis Suarez gets to play in Europe for good behaviour?!??!

It's based on the sum of every team from the league, then the most disciplined side. So we could go through the year and get zero bookings but still not get in.
